Exhibition: Roots and Routes

RevArt invites artists to submit works for “Roots and Route,” an exhibition exploring how communities evolve over time, influenced by their history, culture, and the individual journey within them. This exhibition will take place in Serendipity Labs, located  in Plano, Texas, a city rich with agricultural heritage and a thriving modern identity. We welcome works that address themes such as:

  • The connection between past and present, or heritage and progress

  • The physical and metaphorical journeys that shape personal or collective identities

  • Reflections on the dynamics between rural beginnings and urban expansion

PRAKSIS R29 For real? With Harold Offeh

Developed with artist Harold Offeh, residency 29 For real? addresses ideas of authenticity and identity in art and society.

Contemporary media are permeated by misleading content that serves motives of financial and personal gain. Within this economy, authenticity – the quality of being real, genuine or true – carries a high premium. Influencers trade on their authenticity to sell their followers a model of what and how to be. Fake news spreads uncertainty and lies, and erodes trust. Politicians seesaw on policies in pursuit of public favour. By contrast, art supposedly exists outside of the need for truth or purpose – so what is the place of authenticity in the context or art today?

Identity, Exploring the Human Condition invites artists to submit work that addresses a sense of who they/we are as individuals, or who we are as a society.

  • These works will highlight the journey, the turmoil, the ecstasy of the human condition.

  • These works may reinforce the underlying communication of emotional truth as only understood by other human beings.

The Annual Juried Regional Show is Art Center Sarasota’s largest juried show of the year and encompasses all four of our gallery spaces. The show is open to all artists in the southeast region of the United States.
