Belonging

Visionary Art Collective is a contemporary art & artist development company based in New York City. Our mission is to uplift artists through magazine features, exhibitions, podcast interviews, and our mentorship programs.

Belonging is a virtual exhibition centered on the power of art to cultivate connection and community. Transcending the limits of culture and language, visual art is a medium that connects us through our shared human experience–providing an opportunity to better understand ourselves and the world around us. For this exhibition we're seeking work that fosters a sense of belonging between the artist and viewer by speaking to both our individual and collective experiences.

Portraits of First-Generation Identity in Higher Education

The lives and experiences of students, families, faculty and professional staff who identify as first-generation are the subject of increased attention in higher education across the United States. The success of programs, initiatives, and interventions mostly focus on measurable student “outcomes” but may often miss the complicated narratives of aspiration, sacrifice, accomplishment and identity work first-generation students, families, faculty, staff and communities navigate.  Portraiture can make visible the triumphs and challenges of being first in the family in higher educational spaces.

"S l o w S e l f i e"

"Slow Selfie" is a juried show of self-portraits that require more time and effort than a simple cell phone snap. We are looking for artists who want to explore the complexities of self-representation through a thoughtful and intentional approach.

We invite all artists to submit up to 3 of their Slow Selfies for consideration, whether it be through painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, or mixed media. We want to see your personality, emotions, and experiences come to life through an imaginative and innovative depiction of oneself.

Entries are open until 11:59pm August 1, 2023, and juried results will be notified by email on August 11, and announced on the website on August 19th.

Dreams | Juried Art Exhibition

UPWARD Gallery invites artists worldwide to submit artwork to our juried art exhibition and competition, Dreams.

Images that appear for a moment and disappear forever or stay with us for life. The dream in art is an exploration in the mysterious borderland between the visible and the invisible, touching on the religious and psychological aspects of consciousness. The artist has the opportunity to capture and share these mystical and elusive images with the viewer, revealing own inner world.

All artists 18 and older are encouraged to submit their work in any medium, style, and genre.
