State of Wonder NYC: Edition 6, "Friends, Family, & Foes"

State of Wonder NYC is looking for artists for our sixth edition of the show! Our theme is "Friends, Family, & Foes," an exhibition which explores forming and keeping relationships in the city.

State of Wonder is a rotating, free-form group show split up into ten editions which encourage the viewer to gradually consider modern life from a variety of perspectives. Each artist is from New York City, all telling their story about life in the world’s most famous metropolitan area in the 2020s.

FREE FILM : NYC Open Call

WORTHLESSSTUDIOS is pleased to announce the sixth neighborhood for FREE FILM : NYC. After traveling through the city and making stops in Red Hook, Lower East Side, South Bronx, Sunset Park, and Harlem, the FREE FILM : NYC project makes a last stop in WORTHLESSSTUDIOS’ own neighborhood East Williamsburg!

We are looking for a local photographer (East Williamsburg/Bushwick) for a one-month-long residency in our Airstream mobile darkroom, starting mid-February 2024. The Airstream will be parked in front of our 10,000 square-foot warehouse at 7 Knickerbocker Ave and will serve the resident as a studio and private darkroom. The application period starts on November 15th, and the final date for submissions will be December 15th. The selected Resident will be announced in January.

The Gill Prize is given each year to the creator of a specific work; a book, essay, musical composition, play, painting, sculpture, film, or choreographic piece, that best captures the spirit and energy of New York City. The 2023 Gill Prize will be awarded to an honoree who created an exceptional work in 2022.
