UPWARD Gallery invites artists worldwide to submit artwork to our online competition and exhibit, Movement.

What brings a work of art to life, really allows the image to talk to the spectator? Movement, demonstration of temporary ties, the narrative told by the artist. 
Share the your story through movement in artwork.

All artists 18 and older are encouraged to submit their work in any medium, style, and genre.

Acceptable mediums include all traditional art media (e.g., oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, mixed media, gouache, egg tempera, pen and ink; drawing media such as graphite, charcoal, colored pencils, scratch board, markers, metal point), digital painting, arts and crafts (beadwork, pottery, embroidery, floristry, batik, stained glass, two-dimensional collage and fabric art as well, etc.).

All accepted pieces will be displayed in our online gallery at upwardgallery.com. 

Each participant of the competition receives his personal page on the UPWARD gallery. This page displays works that the artist submitted for participation in competitions, short biography text and artist statement, links to the artist's website, as well as links to social media accounts, interview with the artist.

All entrants will receive electronic certificates based on the results of the competition.
The winners (1st place) are interviewed by the UPWARD Gallery editors for publication on the site.

UPWARD Gallery invites artists worldwide to submit artwork to our online competition and exhibit, Autumn Vibes.

Autumn — the season, maybe, mostly affecting the emotions of the artist. For some, autumn is a quiet sadness, withering, a harbinger of future death, and for other artists, the theme of autumn is an opportunity to use all possible natural colors in your work.
What does autumn mean for your creativity?

Call for Exhibition Proposals 2023-24

CALL FOR EXHIBITION PROPOSALS.

The BVU Art Gallery accepts submissions for exhibitions from emerging and established artists in all media.   Proposals will be juried by the director and gallery committee.   Exhibitions have typically run for 5 weeks, but a range between 3 - 8 weeks in duration is possible.  

Exhibition Proposal should address the following:

1. A general explanation your proposed exhibition.  May include:   

2. Gallery is open during the academic year, from August to May.  Please specify your preference, if any, for which semester (autumn or spring) you would like to exhibit.   

3.  Does your proposal require any special installation needs or equipment?  

4.  A curriculum vitae or artist resumé.

5. Five to 10 images of your work.  (maximum size of 2 MB, or 300 dpi each)

This exhibition held at the Photobook Cafe, London will mark Original Magazine’s 2nd anniversary. Where has the time gone!! In response to this, our Editors Michael and Emily have collaborated with Matt once again, to offer the opportunity to creatives from across all disciplines to showcase their work within a thriving art community. This is an open themed exhibition so we encourage artists from all disciplines, backgrounds, and levels to submit for the chance to be selected in this immersive exhibition space.

FLAT JOURNAL Open Call - Issue 4"After Tomorrow"

FLAT looks for works relating to the intersection of visual and conceptual art, technology, and/or media.

Your work will be reviewed by our 2022 editorial board for consideration. If your work is chosen for this issue, your content will be included in this year’s online publication, at the designers’ discretion.

Submissions must be received by 11:59PM PDT on December 1st.

The following types of new, ongoing, or previously published works are welcome:

  • Theory/criticism / scholarly research in writing or writing with images
  • Interviews
  • reviews of artworks, software, films, television, or other media
  • Fiction, poetry, sound
  • Photo essays, photography, digital images
  • Illustrations, animations, videos
  • Instruction based works, software, interactive media

You may submit up to three works. Past publication or experience is not required. Other content types may be accepted. If you have specific requirements to make your work viewable in the ideal fashion, please let us know, we can work with you collaboratively, especially for interactive or complex media types.
