Announcing artist residencies designed for the reopening of Colombia; for visual artists, musicians, writers, architects, clay artists, performers, and other makers.

We’re not quite out of the woods on the COVID epidemic, but international travel has been reopening all around the world. Back in March ‘20, we went into lockdown with 13 artists and learned a lot in the process. Since then, we’ve hosted another dozen or so artists with extra precautions to keep everyone safe, yet maximize the artist’s experience. We believe that a key part of the AIR experience is the commensality – those wonderful conversations we have while sharing a glass of wine and a good meal, along with the freedom to focus on your work.

Residency length: From one to two months starting in June 2022.

Fees: The fee per artist is $750 US per month which includes all meals, private room and bath, and studio space. Artists are responsible for their own materials and transportation to and from ArteSumapaz. We have a special car and driver available for pickups from El Dorado Airport in Bogotá for about $100 US.

Eligibility:

The City of Newport Beach is pleased to announce a call for entries for Phase VII of its ongoing Invitational Sculpture Exhibition to further activate the splendor of the City’s Civic Center Park. Artists, private collectors, galleries, and museums/non-profit institutions are invited to submit artworks for consideration for a temporary exhibition at the site.

Up to ten artworks may be selected and showcased for two years in the heart of Newport Beach in Civic Center Park. The 14-acre, ocean-view site was specially designed by renowned landscape architect Peter Walker as an intended sculpture garden. The Civic Center Park has developed into a destination for residents and visitors to gather for events and activities including summer concerts on the lawn, art shows, docent-led sculpture park tours, visits to the dog park, or leisurely walks along the park’s winding trail, appreciating its environmentally-friendly expanse of native plant life. As home to City Hall, City administrative offices, and the Central Branch of the city’s public library system, the Civic Center is the heart of Newport Beach.

This is a unique opportunity to display artworks in a serene, ocean-view setting made to be beautified by sculpture. This exhibition has consistently delighted and enriched visitors with the works of world-class artists both local and national. The search is being administered by Arts Orange County via the Slideroom platform. There is no cost to submit, the deadline is Nov. 30, 2021. Visit artsoc.slideroom.com to learn more and apply.

Public Art Commission

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Aintree University Hospital -Main Entrance

Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust (LUHFT) invites applications from artists to create a high quality, innovative and thought provoking piece of public art. The proposed new artwork will be displayed outside the reconfigured main entrance and will complement the existing           commissioned works on display around the Aintree site.

Project Brief

The artwork must:-

Relate to the overall theme of the commission

Be site specific and weather durable

Create a sense of “welcome”

Reflect Aintree hospital's place as an anchor institution

Commission Theme

The overarching theme is “Metamorphosis”

Artists are invited to explore this theme in any medium providing they adhere to the project brief. We have chosen this theme to reflect the transformation and continual change within the hospital  and the hospital estate. There is a symbiotic and collaborative relationship between staff members of every discipline who when working together exemplify the phrase;           ‘the whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts’.  Whilst there is considerable latitude within the brief this will be a very prominent piece of art at our main entrance and will be the first welcome to the hospital.

Commission Budget £10-15K

For the proposed piece the quoted amount should cover :-

The workshop period, any inspirational or engagement visits to the site, transport costs, materials and the development and creation of the final work.

Installation will be the responsibility of Aintree Hospital maintenance team guided by a risk         assessment and method statement which includes detailed installation plans from the                  commissioned artist(s).

Aintree is an extremely busy hospital site with high patient throughput. Maintaining a clean and safe environment is important therefore all artwork must be robust, easy to clean and maintain.

Commission Deadlines

The closing date for submissions 5pm Friday October 30th 2020.

Anticipated installation date 30th March 2021

All submissions will be reviewed by an Arts Steering Group and shortlisted candidates will be     invited to a short interview before a judging panel at Aintree Hospital site in mid-November. We envisage the successful artist(s) to begin work immediately with the artwork ready for installation in March/April 2021.

If selected for commission there will be consultation, engagement and participation with the         Estates and Facilities team at Aintree Hospital.

Artist Specification

We are looking to recruit artists with the following qualities:

A track record of producing high quality artwork and meeting deadlines

An ability to inspire and to take inspiration from others
