Overview

A Leighton Studio Residency offers creative professionals 2 to 6 weeks of focused, self-directed time in private, purpose-built studios set in the forested surroundings of Banff Centre. This competitive program supports independent research, creative exploration, and project development, with the flexibility to work in solitude or engage with Banff Centre’s broader artistic community. 

Greywood Arts Creative Process Residency

APPLICATIONS for the Greywood Arts Creative Process Residency for 2025 are now open!

Our signature self-directed option is open to all visual, performing and literary arts disciplines, as well as curators, researchers, creatives and curators from February 24 – December 7 2025.

The Residency at Greywood Arts is an artist-run space in our iconic 3-story Georgian house located in the centre of Killeagh, a vibrant modern Irish village. 

The Dissour River runs alongside the residency and Glenbower Wood, an ancient Irish woodland, is just a short walk upstream. Artists-in-residence have access to workspace and self-catering accommodation, however we have dinner together once per week. 

Brashnar Artist-in-Residence Summer 2023

Brashnar Artist-in-Residence (BAiR) is an artist owned and operated urban artist residency program located in the neighborhood Hrom on the west side of Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia. BAiR is a multi-faceted residency program allowing resident artists the freedom to explore the potentials of their practice while experiencing Macedonian culture through group related activities.

Visual Arts: Banff Artist in Residence - Summer 2023

Overview
The Banff Artist in Residence program is designed for visual artists to focus on their practice in a supportive learning environment. Participants are encouraged to self-direct their research and time, as well as cultivate new directions in their work. The experience of artists in residence is further supported through individual studio visits with guest faculty and dialogue amongst peers.

The program encourages experimentation and risk-taking via access to shared production facilities and knowledgeable staff who are available to provide technical support and assistance.

Emerging Banff Artist in Residence

Overview
Banff Artist in Residence (BAiR) Emerging is an immersive program of studio practice, creative exploration, critical feedback, and mentorship for visual artists of all ages in the early stages of their careers.

BAiR Emerging combines the artistic freedom of a self-directed residency with the supportive benefits of an organized program. As well as having the space to create, research, and experiment, participants are part of a community of emerging artists committed to developing and expanding their practice.
