Second Street Gallery is pleased to announce that submissions are open for the Third Annual Teeny Tiny Trifecta exhibition, a group show to be held in SSG’s Dové Gallery September 4 - 25, 2020.

The exhibition kicks off the gallery’s 47th Season and will consist of a collection of 3 works of art from each artist, each measuring 9 inches or smaller, from a carefully curated selection of artists. Last year’s exhibition featured 85 artists and was a huge success with over 750 attendees at the opening reception and 1,500 visitors to the exhibition during the month it was on view.

Inspired by both Cabinet of Curiosities as well as the Paris Salons of the 19th Century, the exhibition aims to showcase the wide range of talented artists in Virginia (and beyond!) while providing an accessible introduction to contemporary art collecting. All work will be priced at $100, so this is a great opportunity for collectors of all budgets to own a work of art by some of their favorite artists.

PLEASE NOTE: this will be the only open call for applications to exhibit at Second Street Gallery in 2020. There will be a separate call for artists for a small group show of 5-10 artists that will be held in Dové Gallery in June 2021.

We encourage everyone to apply! And please feel free to share with other artists who you think would be a good fit.

The deadline to submit your application is June 1st.

We are excited to announce Studio Montclair's third annual Greetings from Montclair postcard fundraiser, scheduled for December of 2019! Participate and contribute to the financial health of SMI by creating a postcard-sized (4x6”) piece of artwork for the show. It's fun to do, and your support means so much to us!

About the event: Greetings from Montclair will offer an opportunity for the public to acquire original, postcard-sized artwork for only $35 each just in time for holiday shopping! Offered on a first-come, first served basis, the works will be exhibited anonymously, and the identity of the artist will be revealed only after the work is purchased. With the playing field leveled, all participants can take home a piece by a well-known artist, or one who's just making their debut in the art world. Everyone walks away with a beautiful piece of art they love! The opening reception party will take place on Friday, December 13, 2019.

Guidelines: Artists may enter up to three pieces of art, each piece must measure 4 x 6 inches exactly and be on a heavy stock paper, rigid backing, photo paper, or other similar material. If we can hang it, you can submit it. All media are welcome, including paint, marker, pencil, collage, ceramic, found objects, and textiles.

Please note reproductions of original artwork will not be accepted.
