The Art of Street Photography

Call For Photography: The Art of Street Photography
International Submission Deadline:
April 15th, 2024 11:59 PM PST

Street photography is a unique art form associated with a photographer's skill in capturing a moment that would have gone unseen without their intervention. A street photographer thrives in a time and place where the mundane transforms into the extraordinary, with their surroundings serving as a canvas for artistic expression. Whether it's capturing the energy of bustling streets or the quiet solitude of hidden alleyways, we invite you to share your vision of the human condition with us.

Urban & Street

The streets have long been an inspiration to photographers — offering nooks to hide, pathways to meander, and a psychogeographic web to traverse the collective narrative of everyday life. The streets serve as a hub of urban conversation, offering us a glimpse of the banal and unconventional, revealing and obscuring the connections to ourselves, each other, and our sense of place. How does your work find its locale in the complexity of the cityscape? Potential subject matter includes but is not limited to: architecture, cityscapes, documentary and street photography, found objects, and the analysis of our sense of “place.”

The Captured Image

The Captured Image is an international call for all forms of photographic art. This exhibition has no overarching theme save the light which traverses the ether, and begets a photograph, "the captured image." All genres of photography, black & white, color, traditional and non-traditional, and digital post-production photographic processes are welcome for submission.

"Street Photography became recognized as a genre in its own right during the early 1930s. Street Photography is unique in the way it is associated with the photographer's skill in capturing something of the mystery and aura of everyday city living. The Street Photographer is then often likened to the historical figure of the flâneur: namely someone who mingles anonymously amongst the crowd observing and recording the ways the unsuspecting city dweller interacts with his or her environment"
