Yeiser Art Center is now accepting entries for the FANTASTIC FIBERS 2024 international juried exhibition. One of Yeiser Art Center’s most engaging and innovative international exhibitions, FANTASTIC FIBERS seeks to showcase a wide range of outstanding contemporary works related to the fiber medium.

Seeking artistic responses to the theme of Fibres.

​Textile making traditions spans global cultures as one of the earliest human technologies. It has been a staple in industry, fashion, craft and decorative arts throughout the ages but it particularly made a resurgence in the 1960s back into the contemporary art world. Since then Fibre and textile arts have been developing new forms and language -becoming more conceptual and cross-disciplinary, even into this digital age.

​We're are seeking works that explore (but are not limited to) the following areas:

Hard & Soft

HARD & SOFT IS AN EXHIBITION OF CERAMICS AND FIBER ARTWORK - HARD BEING CERAMICS AND SOFT BEING FIBER WORK. THIS IS A JURIED COMPETITIVE CALL FOR ART THAT INCLUDES FUNCTIONAL, CONCEPTUAL, REALISTIC AND ABSTRACT WORKS, SCULPTURAL, WALL-HUNG WORKS, AND INSTALLATION ARTWORK. MEDIA. ARTWORK MUST EITHER CONTAIN ONE CERAMIC ELEMENT OR ONE FIBER/TEXTILE ELEMENT.

HELEN OF SPARTA eResidency

Intensive 4-day virtual residency + workshop + public presentation for visual, multimedia and interdisciplinary artists, jewellery and fashion designers who work - or want to work - with textile art, story telling, mythology, performance

 

Helen, the mythical queen of Sparta, causes a merciless war after she falls in love with the enemy.

The "Helen of Sparta" eResidency aims at inspiring eight artists/writers/performers to develop their own updated version of the ancient Greek myth. The intensive four-day program addresses issues, such as misogyny, abuse, manipulation, fake news, armed conflict. The eResidents' work will be presented live online, in a video and an e-publication.
