North by Northwest 2021: Out of Isolation

The Yellowstone Art Museum’s Third Annual North x Northwest juried exhibition features the theme “Out of Isolation”, and asks artists to respond to their time in isolation, after isolation, and the societal changes brought on by Covid-19 and the tumultuous year of 2020. We look forward to artists’ responses to the theme in all art media, and to their broad and personal interpretations. Work must be created from January 2020 to present, and not previously shown at the Yellowstone Art Museum.

Translucent Souls

Art Mums United, a global platform celebrating womxn creatives and motherhood is excited to announce a call for art for an international online exhibit “TRANSLUCENT SOULS” curated by Ekaterina Popova!

“Translucent Souls” are about visual artists telling their stories. We use words, but often the most important things remain unspoken. They are transferred onto a canvas, paper, photograph. They are taking shape in a sculpture or installation.

But can you really see the soul of an artist? Stay silent, watch closely and enter our world.

This online exhibit is a celebration of our abilities to express all while saying nothing.

Reciprocity

Juried by Collaborators Barbara Ciurej + Lindsay Lochman

Exhibition: March 4 - April 3, 2021

Final Entry Due Date: February 7, 2021 at 5 PM

Reciprocity is a relation of mutual dependence, action or influence. In photography, reciprocity refers to the relationship between the aperture (f-stop) and shutter speed, which work dependently and inversely to capture light. It is the key to the perfect exposure.

In reciprocal relationships, like in any collaborative act, ideas and conversations are exchanged, enriching participants intellectually and emotionally. Whether through aesthetic bond, mentor/mentee relationships, friendship, photographer/subject or teacher to student, our pursuits are sustained by these relationships.
