Luminous Expression is a monthly literary digital magazine designed to express the power of literature and storytelling by supporting writers, poets, and literary artists. It is the goal of Luminous Expression to elevate new voices while showcasing different cultures, genres, and mix media. By showcasing literature and storytelling Luminous Expression illuminates the multifaceted worlds of culture, society, art, race, gender, knowledge giving a birdseye view of current and on going issues. Luminous Expression is committed to presenting comprehensive exciting, relevant, thought provoking literature and storytelling that is all inclusive. Allowing Luminous Expression to be able to build a diverse community while introducing the art of storytelling to a broader audience. It is truly amazing the overall power and insight words on the page can provide and we welcome all voices.

The variety of genres that that are included in Luminous Expression magazine are: fiction, poetry, satire, science fiction, drama, philosophy, fantasy, comedy, lgbtq,  nonfiction, essays, philosophy, classic, action and adventure, mystery, suspense/ thriller, mythology, horror, fairy tale, short story, history, tragedy, rhetoric, historical fiction and prose

BYRDCLIFFE ARTIST RESIDENCY - WOODSTOCK, NY - SUMMER 2020

Byrdcliffe Artist Residencies offer uninterrupted time and space for creatives in all disciplines. Our serene mountain community is 2.5 hours north of NYC in Woodstock NY with residencies open to individuals, teams, and couples at all stages of their career. Byrdcliffe’s AiR program is particularly beneficial to those who find it restorative to live in a community environment surrounded by natural beauty. Artists are invited to participate in optional programming such as open studios, wellness workshops, studio visits, field trips, and communal dinners, or are free to work in solitude during their entire stay.

5 Month Residents live in one of Byrdcliffe’s eight private cabins as an autonomous live/work space. Each cottage varies in its size and structure and is able to accommodate 1-2 people or couples. Individuals, couples, and collaborative and non-collaborative artist teams are encouraged to apply. 1 Month Residencies are offered for individuals and couples with private and communal housing available.  Each resident receives a private studio and living space. 

Ceramic artists are able to apply for 1, 2, or 4 month residencies. 

Application Deadline for 1 Month and Ceramic Residencies is February 15, 2020

Prizes Details: 

Fellowships available based on need and merit with funding also available for artists of the LGBTQA community and artists impacted by natural disasters.

BRASHNAR CREATIVE PROJECT: Brashnar International Artist-in-Residence Summer 2020

Brashnar Artist-in-Residence (BAiR) is an artist run and operated urban artist residency program located in the neighborhood Hrom on the west side of Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. BAiR is a multi-faceted residency program allowing resident artists the freedom to explore the potentials of their practice while experiencing Macedonian culture through group related activities.

While residing at BAiR, residents live in an open, communal style environment situated in a family oriented neighborhood. During their residency, residents are encouraged to embrace the local culture and to engage the surrounding community while living at the Art House. Residents also take part in maintaining Brashnar’s organic gardens at the Volkovo Project Space and participate in living a sustainable lifestyle.

The residency is open to all visual artists and writers that strongly encourage work utilizing innovative and traditional forms of art making along with collaborations, artist led projects and socially engaged practices. This is a self-directed, process-based residency with no obligation or expectation to complete a body of work, but resident artists are expected to engage with the community during Open Studio events organized by Brashnar that take place the last week of each month.

Brashnar Artist-in-Residence offers living and work space for up 6 artists/writers for stays of 1 month with 2 - 3 staff artists living with the residents in the Art House during the residency season. The residency season runs from May 1 through September 30.

Applicants in the following fields are eligible to apply: drawing, painting, printmaking (linocut, woodcut), mixed media, new media, digital photography, sculpture/installation, land art, bookmaking, performance/video art, interdisciplinary arts, literature, socially engaged practices and cultural research.
