Études Lab #1 is set to launch in Yerevan as a groundbreaking three-day experimental
laboratory designed for sound artists, choreographers, and visual artists to collaborate and create
new works. Hosted by the hosq, this innovative initiative fosters cross-disciplinary exploration,
culminating in an audio-visual performance that will receive a grant for further development and
touring.

At the core of Études Lab #1 is a commitment to experimentation and collective creativity.
Participants will develop performance concepts through interactive collaboration, with themes
emerging organically from the creative process. The program seeks to redefine artistic
collaboration, inviting artists to explore memory, trauma, and the subconscious through
interdisciplinary practices.

Themes of Exploration

Participants are invited to propose project ideas that align with one of three thought-provoking
themes:

● Echo of the Forgotten – Investigating forgetting as an active process and its manifestation in
collective memory, sound, and imagery.
● The Archive of Pain – Exploring trauma’s imprint on individual and collective consciousness
and its transformative potential.
● The Memory of Water – A poetic reflection on the fluidity of memory and its ties to nature,
time, and cultural heritage.

Program Overview

Over three days, selected artists will engage in a structured yet organic process of artistic exchange:

● Day 1: Participants gather at Hay Art Gallery, form creative teams, and explore emerging
themes.
● Day 2: Rapid reviews and artistic workshops lead to concept development and group
discussions.
● Day 3: Final installations and performances are presented to an invited audience, with the
standout project receiving a grant for further touring.
