POP-UP TANZ BADEN- WÜRTTEMBERG

Moving Rhizomes e.V. (Gemeinnützig), in collaboration with TanzLabor and ROXY Ulm, is excited to announce an open call for dance makers from across Baden-Württemberg to participate in Pop-Up Tanz Baden-Württemberg, a highlight of the ZANT Dance Festival, that will take place between the 3-6th of July 2025, in Ulm. We are seeking six dance makers from six distinct cities across Baden-Württemberg to present their works on an outdoor pop-up stage in a public setting. This event celebrates the region’s vibrant dance scene, engages new audiences, and fosters artistic exchange.

Pop-Up Tanz Baden-Württemberg is...
a free outdoor dance event showcasing six short works by professional choreographers and dance artists. As part of ZANT, Ulm’s one and only dance festival, the program includes performances, workshops, and networking opportunities aimed at promoting dialogue and connection within the dance community.The pop-up stage celebrates the region's dance scene, appeals to new target groups and promotes artistic exchange.

We are looking for....
applications from dance makers working in diverse dance styles—contemporary, urban, traditional, experimental, and beyond. Selected works must be adaptable and appropriate to perform on an outdoor 8x10-meter stage, with a duration of 10–20 minutes. Pieces may include solos, duos, trios, quartets and walking dance acts. The pieces should be playable without complicated or complex scenery and equipment.

Key features of the event include...
Invited artists will perform on an outdoor Pop-Up stage (with a dance floor), a professional development symposium (Exchanging Practices), and the opportunity to engage with an audience of up to 2,000 visitors. Participants will also receive a performance fee, have their travel costs covered (train travel preferred), and be provided with local accommodation.

Eligibility...
Choreographers must be based in or from Baden-Württemberg to be able to apply. They should be available to perform on 4th and or 5th and or 6th of July 2025.

The works will be selected by a jury consisting of:
-Annett Göhre, dance director of Theater Ulm
-Pablo Sansalvador, artistic director TanzLabor ROXY Ulm
-Laura Sommerfeld, CEO of Produktionszentrum Tanz + Performance in Stuttgart

This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure, connect with other professionals, and present work as part of an international festival. The event aims to foster collaboration, encourage artistic exchange, and bring dance to public spaces.
