CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
The Scholarship for Drawing and Paper Art of the City of
Waiblingen will be awarded in 2026 for the second time.
It is made possible through the support of the Eva Mayr-Stihl
Foundation as a result of a bequest by Renate Reichert to
the foundation. The cross-generational project brings established
artistic positions together with young, emerging artists.
The internationally renowned paper sculptor Angela Glajcar has
been selected as the established artist for the 2026 Scholarship
for Drawing and Paper Art of the City of Waiblingen.
She will accompany the stipend holders as a mentor during
their stay in Waiblingen. The call for applications for the
scholarship for emerging artists is announced publicly,
and the stipends are awarded by a jury of experts.

THE SCHOLARSHIP FOR EMERGING ARTISTS
The City of Waiblingen invites three international artists to
work in the Galerie im Kameralamt for six weeks, from 15
June 2026.
Once a week, within the framework of an open studio,
the public as well as groups of pupils have the possibility to
look over the artists’ shoulders and enter into conversation
with them.
At the end of the six weeks, the works produced will be
presented in a joint exhibition at the Galerie im Kameralamt
from 25 July to 18 October 2026.
In addition, the stipend holders participate during the course
of the exhibition in a supporting programme with workshops
in cooperation with the Kunstschule Unteres Remstal. The selected
stipend holders receive a full scholarship.
It includes:
• free travel to and from the venue as well as
accommodation during the six-week residency
• honorarium of 2.500 euro
• food allowance of 1.000 euro
• budget for materials and equipment of 1.000 euro
for the works created on site
• the scholarship attaches particular importance
to family friendliness; children and partners are
therefore welcome

THE MENTORING
The internationally acclaimed artist Angela Glajcar will
accompany the stipend holders as a mentor during their stay
in Waiblingen.
Angela Glajcar (*1970) studied sculpture at the Academy
of Fine Arts Nuremberg. She initially worked with classic
materials like wood and metal. While conceiving such sculptures,
the sculptor discovered the great flexibility of paper,
a substance often described as fragile. Processed by hand
through the artist, paper develops an imposing spatial presence.
Glajcar’s installations of layered, large-format paper,
which are frequently produced in situ, facilitate fascinating
interior and exterior views and captivate with their impression
of depth. The space and its changing characteristics,
like light and air, give the at times fragile-, at times monumentalseeming
paper works an atmospheric presence and alter their
appearance.
Within the framework of the scholarship, the Galerie Stihl
Waiblingen will present an extensive monographic exhibition of
the artist, including works that Angela Glajcar will create on site
in the Galerie Stihl Waiblingen during a six-week work process.

THE CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION
Up to a maximum of three artists can apply for the
scholarship:
• individually, as a duo, or as a group of three

with paper
