Torino Fringe Festival – “Metropolis” 14th Edition
May 19 – 31, 2026
The Torino Fringe Festival is a multidisciplinary performing arts festival that spans the entire Piedmont region. It is recognized as a key reference point for the off-theatre scene both nationally and internationally. Founded in 2013 and inspired by major European fringe festivals, its aim is to promote artistic innovation and the dissemination of live performance through a widespread network of theatrical and urban venues.
Over the years, the festival has hosted more than 380 national and international companies, presenting over 3,000 performances in more than 120 venues—including theatres and unconventional indoor and outdoor spaces—reaching more than 160,000 spectators.
The Festival has always aimed to improve accessibility to live performance culture and to raise the artistic quality of the performing arts scene, developing a new cultural model marked by cross-genre and cross-disciplinary experimentation in contemporary creativity.
The Artistic Direction supports a multidisciplinary and innovative program, open to experimentation and dialogue among various expressive languages.
This call is intended for the selection of performances to be included in the 14th edition of the Festival, which will take place from May 19 to May 31, 2026.
ELIGIBILITY
Individual artists or companies, both national and international, can apply with performances of any genre or language.
Only professional artists or companies are eligible. Applicants must meet the legal requirements for professional status (e.g., ENPALS certification in Italy) or be employed under applicable national laws.
Each artist/company may submit only one proposal. Multiple submissions will result in disqualification.
Submitted works must not have been performed in any municipality of the Metropolitan City of Turin between January 1, 2026, and the start of the Festival.
Only fully produced performances are eligible; works-in-progress or amateur productions will not be considered.
PERFORMANCE CATEGORIES
INDOOR
Performances suitable for indoor spaces, regardless of genre or language. Selected works must be available for six consecutive performances, from Tuesday to Sunday, in either of the two festival weeks (May 19–24 or May 26–31). Showtimes will be scheduled between 7:00 PM and 11:00 PM.
The assignment of the week is at the sole discretion of the Artistic Direction.
OUTDOOR / SITE-SPECIFIC
Performances or actions suitable for outdoor, non-conventional, public and/or urban spaces, including itinerant works. These must be available for 1 to 3 performances during the Festival.
Site-specific projects designed for urban environments are welcome, especially those that engage with the landscape and socio-cultural context.
MUSIC
Live musical performances suitable for either indoor or outdoor venues. Must be available for 1 to 3 performances during the Festival.
SPECIAL / OTHER
Projects not fitting into the categories above may be evaluated by the Artistic Direction, which may contact the applicants for potential inclusion in the program.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Due to the Festival’s use of unconventional and non-traditional theatre venues, a simplified technical rider is required as part of the application. Any technical or scenic requirement not included in the application form will not be taken into account.
Each artist/company will be provided with:
- One 4-hour slot the day before the first performance for setup and rehearsal.
- 30 minutes for setup/strike between shows.
The Festival will provide:
- Basic sound and lighting equipment
- A technical coordinator during setup
If the venue permits, artists/companies may bring their own additional equipment, which must comply with safety regulations and be approved by the Festival’s technical director.
Each company/artist must have their own on-site technician responsible for setup, strike, and operation of the performance during the run.
If this is not possible, the Festival may provide a technician upon request, at the artist/company’s expense.
SELECTION PROCESS
The Artistic Direction will evaluate applications based on artistic merit and logistical feasibility.
Selected participants will be contacted from November 17, 2025, to finalize participation and contractual terms.
All applicants will be notified of the outcome via the email address provided in the application form, whether they have been selected or not. Please also check your spam folder.
TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION
Travel and accommodation costs are the responsibility of the artist/company.
The Festival may suggest partner accommodations.
A “Host an Artist” program may be activated, offering free lodging with local residents.
PROMOTION AND DISTRIBUTION
All selected artists authorize the use, distribution, and recording of images and audiovisual materials related to their performances, without territorial or time limits.
