spazioSERRA invites artists and collectives to think of a new site-specific project for the next exhibition season.
The title suMISURA is inspired by the characteristics specific to spazioSERRA, an exhibition space for contemporary art, which is presented as an architectural element in a measured context built on rules, distances and relationships. The selected artists will be asked to analyze such a place, at once content and container, where daily the very rules that constitute it are emphasized, exploited, deformed, reshaped and sometimes annulled.

Art. 1 – PURPOSE

The purpose of the call for proposals is to select artists to create solo and/or group exhibitions for the 2024 exhibition season of spazioSERRA, entitled suMISURA.
We want to address issues related to the complex system in which spazioSERRA is located. The space becomes a point within a system made of surfaces and volumes and is proposed as a place of investigation to be analyzed and measured by addressing the different audiences that inhabit daily, or not, the Milan Lancetti train station.

The artist, or collective of artists, by applying to the following call for entries will be able to choose autonomously how to interpret the theme explained above and explored in more detail within Annex E.

Art. 2 – PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

The call is open to all contemporary artists, individual or collective, of any country and origin over the age of 18 and aims to select a maximum number of 6 proposals. spazioSERRA is a non-profit social promotion association, which operates with the aim of providing opportunities for contemporary artists: for this reason, participation in the call is subject to membership at a cost of €10 for artists under 35 and to the payment of a donation of €25 (membership cost included) for those born before January 1, 1988, which will cover the space's ordinary running costs.

To make the payment, applicants will have to make a transaction on the PayPal account info.spazioserra@gmail.com or via a bank transfer in the name of SPAZIOSERRA APS - IBAN IT08L0501801600000017246554

With reason for payment: Call for artists spazioSERRA 2023 - First Name Last Name. *In the case of collectives, all members must pay the indicated fee.

Art. 5 – THE SPACE AND THE JURY

spazioSERRA is a non-profit exhibition space that was created with the aim of enhancing the Milan area through the work of artists, in a place, the suburban one, not dedicated to art, where art becomes an accident.
The space has an octagonal structure built of metal and consists of 22 windows. To access it there is a glass door on one of the sides and on the opposite side there are two sliding windows that can be opened only during the presence of the artist or the collective. The space features five neon lights on the ceiling. The works in the space can be of any type, shape and material, but must take into account health regulations and the safety of the viewers. The space is equipped with four electrical outlets.
