LATERA THE ART FARM
INTERNATIONAL AWARD FOR CONTEMPORARY ART
The Saint Francis' Ways Association, winner of the “BANDO BORGHI LINEA B” TENDER - “Funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU - PNRR Funds, MISSION 1 – COMPONENT 3 – INVESTMENT 2.1.”, promoter of the local project cultural and social regeneration “Latera The Art Farm” promotes the following competition to search for no. 1 international artist who can create an artistic work sculptural and/or installation within the village in question.
“Latera the art Farm” acts as a promoter for the artistic redevelopment of the ancient medieval village of Latera in Lazio, a long forgotten village with a strong imprint of depopulation, to make it attractive from a tourist point of view.
The work covered by the tender will be the symbolic work of the “Latera the Art Farm” initiative, e it will be included in the open-air exhibition itinerary within the context of the historic village.
This call gives the opportunity to an international artist to participate in this project, creating an artistic residency lasting approximately 30 days aimed to a deeper knowledge into the territory and its history, foreseeing the design and construction
of the work during the abovementioned period of the artist's stay in the Lazio municipality.
The artistic intervention in question, in fact, stands as a symbol, fitting in within a larger exhibition project, which will see the involvement of further visual artists, who will be called upon to create artistic works of street art, sculptural/installative works, as well as the creation of artistic design works aimed at redevelopment of the rooms of the widespread hotel currently being renovated.
A real and open-air museum thanks to the works and interventions of various artist people.
The aforementioned artistic interventions will arise from the contamination as well as the involvement of the city community.
An integral part of “Latera the Art Farm” is the audio-video documentation of the project
(paid by the cooperative) with the final intention of creating a documentary film, and will be included inside of the website www.lateratheartfarm.it and be promoted in the various institutional channels and partners of the project.
Article 1.2
PRIZES
A prize/fee of 10,000 euros (ten thousand/00) is made available for the work, intended for the creation of the permanent artistic work to be installed within the village historian of Latera.
Materials, transport, food and accommodation are the responsibility of the client (commissioning).
To facilitate the creation of the work, the artist is avail to make use of a series of technical partners and local workers, to be defined in the design phase of the work with respect to the needs of the artist during the period of residence at Latera, which will allow him to find
equipment and materials useful for the realization of the permanent work to be placed inside the village of Latera.
Article 2
ADDRESSEES
The following announcement is aimed to international artists with proven experience in the sector of art, capable of interpreting with their own artistic work (as it is public) the history of the place that will host it. The competition is aimed to all artists or groups of artists, professionals and coming from any country in the world.
Article 3
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT AND TYPE OF WORKS ADMITTED
Sculptural and/or installation projects will be specifically evaluated in the selection.
Therefore, they are not, as part of this call, performing art, pictorial or artistic projects will be evaluated multimedia that do not involve the creation of a physical installation within the exhibition itinerary.
Specifications required for the work to be carried out during the residency period:
The selected artist undertakes to create a work that, given the public context in which will fit in, must be born from the artist's relationship with the place itself, it must be of medium/large size and made with durable materials.

Article 5
JURY
The composition of the jury will be published on the official website www.lateratheartfarm.it
before the registration closing date. The jury will be made up of top experts of the art sector.
Article 6
Article 6.1
MECHANISM FOR SELECTING THE WINNER
The winner is selected at the sole discretion of the jury.
The winner will be defined by the average of the scores assigned by the jury.
The scale of scores that can be assigned is defined from 1 to 10 points.
Each juror will assign a score from 1 to 10 to each competing artist. The artist who will get the highest score will be selected for the residency period and will be asked to achieve the work for the context of the village.
The points will be assigned by the jurors based on the coherence of the candidate's artistic research, to his artistic portfolio and curriculum.
Article 6.2
PAYMENT OF THE PRIZE IN CASH
Upon announcement of the winner, a certificate will be sent to him/her the amount of the cash prize, aimed at the realization of the work, in addition to the terms of the payment tranche.
The certificate will be sent electronically (fax, email) and must be returned signed always by electronic means (fax, email).
The payment of the prize money will be made, in its tranches, within 30 days of date of receipt of the signed certificate by the Saint Francis' Ways association.
Article 7
EXHIBITION
The location of the exhibition is the village of the city of Latera, which is already experiencing an innovative structural and artistic redevelopment.
The exhibition itinerary will be curated by the staff of the Saint Francis' Ways association, with the artistic direction by Squareworld Studio and in collaboration with the selected jury.
The place prepared for hosting the work in question will be chosen in complete autonomy from the artist, subject to the submitted project and feasibility of the same ad accept the work.
The certification of the work will be the responsibility of the Municipality of Latera (grounding and safety of the work) by its technicians in charge.
During the residency period, aimed at designing and realizing the work, the artist undertakes to present the artistic project with all the technical specifications for approval by the client, so as to be able to proceed, after approval of the himself, to the subsequent realization of the work. The project is aimed at enabling technicians responsible of the Municipality to technically evaluate the installation of the same within the village of Latera as well as examining the feasibility of the place responsible for it. The selected work must be consistent, in technical and stylistic terms, with the project previously presented in design phase.
This is without prejudice to the good faith of the Saint Francis' Ways association in managing as best as possible and with due care and caution should be given to all works of art present within the village.
The exhibition will open to the public on the day of its inauguration and will remain open ad eternum.
Collectors, press, art professionals and enthusiasts’ will be invited to the inauguration, others as well as the artists and members of the jury.

REGISTRATION METHOD

To participate in this announcement, the artist must send via the appropriate portal https://
www.lateratheartfarm.it/en/call the following materials:
- artistic portfolio in PDF format maximum 20 MB;
- curriculum vitae in PDF format maximum 5 MB;
- motivation letter in PDF format maximum 400 words.
Any registration requests received by post will not be taken into consideration and/or via email.
Once the registration has been sent, it can no longer be modified.
Article 9
Article 9.1
CATALOG
A catalog will be prepared following the completion of the work. The winning artist must send the following material necessary for the preparation of the catalogue printed:
- two images of the work created (overall and detail) in jpg or tif format, one personal image
(photo of the artist) in jpg, tif format
- descriptive text of the work (1500 characters’ maximum) complete with specifications of the
work, such as title, technique, year, etc.
- short descriptive curriculum of the artist (1000 characters maximum)
Article 9.2
CONSTRUCTION OF THE WORK
The work will be created in the municipality of Latera during the artist's period of residence, and eventual transport of materials, technical equipment or work carried out with partners technicians are the responsibility of the client subject to authorization of the artistic project presented during the residency phase.

Article 11
COPYRIGHT AND PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA
Completing and sending the registration form on the official website https://www.lateratheartfarm.it the artist accepts the regulations contained in this announcement including all the articles expressed therein.
The artist authorizes the Saint Francis' Ways Association to process the artist's personal data participant pursuant to law 675/96 and subsequent amendments. Personal data and images sent may be used for purposes useful for the competition and the promotion of “Latera the Art Farm”. The data of the participants as well as images of their works will not be sold to third parties, nor disclosed for commercial purposes.
Article 12
OWNERSHIP AND TITLE OF THE WORK
The Artist guarantees that the Work will be characterized by a creative character pursuant to the art. 1 and 2 co. 4 of Law 633/1941 and endowed with artistic value. Without prejudice to the moral rights of the author on the Works, of exclusive ownership of the Artist, the Client will acquire exclusive ownership of all rights of economic exploitation of the Work pursuant to art. 12 co.2 of Law 633/1941 ss.
As consideration for the conception, design and realization of the Work, the Client (Commission) undertakes to pay the Artist the all-inclusive lump sum amount of Euros 10,000.00 net, (“Compensation”). The compensation includes the remuneration for the transfer, by the Artist, definitively, without any limitation and/or exclusion, of all patrimonial rights of exploitation of the Work created by the Artist, in every form and manner, pursuant to Law 633/1941.
Article 13
RESERVES
The Saint Francis' Ways association reserves the right to make corrections to this document notice, useful for the best conduct of the competition.
