SITU Festival - VI edition 2025

The a.p.s. Zona Blu presents the launch of the open call 2025 for the sixth edition of the SITU Festival project, the artist residency and site-specific festival invites artists to work closely in the Sicilian territory at Ficarra (ME) from 18 to 31 August 2025.
SITU Festival is a territorial enhancement project that focuses on the practice of site-specific, inviting artists to reinterpret in a contemporary way the distinctive historical and religious places of the village that hosts the event. The selected locations are used as studios for the artists for a duration of 12 days, during which the artists explore the places, deepening their history and structure, in order to create a site-specific work that offers a new reading of the territory and its architecture. SITU Festival is structured in two parts: a first moment dedicated to the artist residency for the creation of site-specific works and a second moment of restitution of the works created by offering a contemporary art exhibition to the public. During the three days of the festival, in addition to the artists in residence, every year we invite exceptional artists, expanding the project with collateral exhibitions, a rich program of events and activities open to the public, including meetings and conversations with exceptional guests, live performances, workshops, art therapy laboratories and musical events.

Who is it for
SITU Festival welcomes seven national and international artists* with a background in visual arts, architecture, design, digital art, performing arts, video art and photography. The selection criteria will be implemented by rewarding site-specific projects in dialogue with the architectural space of the proposed exhibition venues, the artist's skills and spirit of installation adaptation, evaluated on the basis of the portfolio as well as the coherence of the research and artistic path.

The call is open until May 31st, the deadline to submit your projects, the complete call containing the various instructions for participation can be consulted at the following link. The results of the applications will be communicated in a first step by email by June 15th.
