Light Nights festival

The Seventh International Festival of Light and Media Art Light Nights will take place at the Gatchina Museum-Reserve (Saint Petersburg, Russia) on the final weekend of summer 2025. 

Light Nights is an immersive nighttime experience that transforms the unique palace park into an open-air exhibition of light and media art. The festival`s mission is to introduce contemporary art to a wide audience through deep emotional and intellectual experiences while also serving as a hub for the development of light and digital art. It provides a platform for debuts, a space for experimentation, and a meeting point for both emerging and established artists.

Since its inception in 2017, the festival has introduced contemporary art to a wide audience, while serving as a creative and technological laboratory for artists working with light, landscapes, architecture, and digital technologies. The festival lasts for three nights, with its installations spread throughout the central part of Palace Park, forming a route over five kilometers long.

The theme for 2025 is GAME, exploring the idea of play and its significance in human interaction. The festival welcomes projects designed for open-air formats, including light and media art installations, VR/AR, architectural mapping, lighting design, sound art and promenade shows. The unique landscapes and architectural environment of Gatchina Park will serve as inspiration for participants.

• Other expenses directly related to the creation of the artwork
