Open Call for Artists

Metropolis Contemporary invites artists of any medium to take part in the Cheap and Low

exhibition.

Cheap and Low illuminates class struggle within art production. It aims to take a step against

canonical art, distance itself from the traditional oil tempera of the Masters, and position

Cheap and Low art in the epicentre of the contemporary art world.

Artists are not thematically tied to Cheap and Low, as long as there is an indication of

accessible and affordable use of products. We encourage artworks that attempt to

democratise art and whose use of materials responds directly to working-class art.

Metropolis Contemporary aims to promote emerging underrepresented artists and fight

social, gender and racial inequalities in the art world. We provide emerging artists with the

the first platform to present their work and the tools they need to navigate a career in the art world.
