The Hollow Hour

We invite artists to submit works that explore themes centred around the evolving relationship between the human body, technology, and art. The exhibition aims to immerse viewers in a multi-sensory experience that explores the boundaries of art and the body, encouraging radical exploration of a speculative future where the human form is redefined by technology. 

Thematic Exploration 

We are seeking works that push the limits of imagination and speculate humanity’s future. Themes might include: 

• Bodily Transformation: How will technology reshape our bodies and identities? 

• Technological Integration: How can the body and technology coexist, blend, or even evolve together? 

• Reimagining Humanity: What does it mean to be human in a world where biology and innovation intersect? 

The exhibition will be divided into two categories: 

Fine Art:  This category is open to a diverse range of mediums, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI) art, installation, printmaking, graphic art, photography, sound art, performance, textile art, and conceptual art. Selected works will be presented in the art’otel Hoxton exhibition space, offering an immersive environment for multi-disciplinary experiences. 

Moving-Image: This category invites submissions of animation, short films, and other moving-image works. Chosen pieces will be screened in the art’otel Hoxton auditorium, creating a more intimate and cinematic exploration of these themes. 

Through this open call, we want to provide a platform for artists to critically engage with the rapidly evolving intersection of humanity and technology. We welcome submissions that challenge existing perceptions, spark dialogue, and inspire creativity, particularly those exploring ideas such as bodily transformation, technological integration, and the shifting definitions of what it means to be human.
