Art Workshop Leaders for ART EAT Festival - Call for proposals.

Deadline: 15th April 2019

Brief:

ART EAT Festival www.arteatfestival.com is taking place along the Ipswich Waterfront on the 21 & 22nd September 2019.  We have a budget to deliver 16 x 2-hour free workshops to the attendees of the festival. Workshops generally need to be child-friendly and be open to people of all ages (in special circumstances and if essential a minimum age can be set).

We have 4 designated locations or ART STATIONS along the waterfront from which the workshops will be delivered.

Workshops need to be centred around the main themes of the festival; Urban Art, Creativity, Food, Community etc. They can use the pavement or walls as canvases, or as supporting structures. Evolving participatory artworks contributing to the festival landscape and general decoration are also encouraged.

Workshops need to be in designated spaces, so please consider where your activity will actually take place. If you would like to run a workshop in a particular place along the Ipswich Waterfront please mention this, we can move our ART STATION bases to suit the proposals we decide upon.

Proposals need to be Health and Safety aware (we can advise on this) so please bear in mind needs for crowd flow, safe use of tools, ladders or scaffold, materials, as well as water safety, slip hazards, rubbish and clearing up afterwards.

Proposals need to consider clean-up. We would like to leave things such as chalk and or washable materials, but anything that looks messy or does not deteriorate easily will need to be removed at the end of the festival, the artists will agree to do this as part of the workshops. The aim of the workshops should be to create beautiful work which everybody agrees should remain as a positive legacy to the artists’ and participants’ work and to the festival.

Once approved artists will be responsible for sourcing materials and equipment, coordinating and delivering the workshops. Artists are welcome to propose various workshops and deliver more than one workshop over two days. If a single group of artists want to run all workshops, this would be great. Final decisions will be based on ideas, so get those creative juices flowing.

N.B. the purpose of these proposals is not only for us to decide on what will take place but is also so that we can cover the H&S as well as inform major stakeholders and landowners of the planned activities that will take place on their land.
