Emerging Artist Series at Riverviews Artspace

The Emerging Artist Series at Riverviews Artspace is an initiative to assist up and coming local artists are looking to expand their CV and knowledge of exhibiting their artwork. Each emerging artist will receive an exhibit in our Rosel H. Schewel Gallery and Theater and work with our curatorial staff to plan and execute the showcase of their artwork. We define “emerging” as those early in their professional artistic careers, who may wish to learn more about gallery representation, building an extensive exhibition history and awards, or sustaining an income derived from art sales and commissions.  

Participants have the opportunity to build relationships with our community of artists and art professionals. The combination of exhibition and supplemental programing of “how-to”  (curate, artist statements, apply for exhibits, building a CV) is intended to further the recipients artistic practice, while encouraging career sustainability and empower their artistic voice. 

Interested artists should know:

The program is open to artists working in any media, regardless of artistic practice, age, background, socioeconomic level, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, and all levels of education. This program is for VA based artists, ideally those live within 100 miles of our artspace in Lynchburg, VA. Deadline for 2021 consideration is 12/11/2020.
