Mural Project at Art Center Sarasota

Art Center Sarasota is working with the Boys & Girls Club to create a collaborative art project with the mission to foster community and engage young artists.  The mural is to be painted on the West facing side of Art Center Sarasota’s building, and will be visible from The Bay’s Mangrove Path, welcoming the many visitors enjoying the revitalized bay park.  Art Center Sarasota values the importance of Public Art and believes that bringing children into the creation of this project will help to broaden their horizons, benefiting the community at large.  

The Open Call is designed to find the best artist to fit the needs of this mission at large.  While previous mural experience is preferred, it is not required for acceptance.  The total budget for the Mural project is $2,800 including concept, design, materials, and mural completion.

The artist will design a hopeful, inspiring, and uplifting mural representing an all inclusive community. The overall theme should be simple yet inviting, keeping in mind that though kids will be painting, it should not look immature. The wall space is 6’ x 65’ and the artist will add the finishing touches and details once the children have painted the basics. The muralist/artist must reside in Sarasota, Manatee, Pinellas, Hillsborough, or DeSoto Counties.
