Open Call | NYC Group Exhibition "Desire—Body Without Organs"

We invite New York-based artists to submit works that deconstruct society and culture, offering interpretations of “desire.” Desire could be understand as longing, impulse, material craving, or sensuality, or one may interprate as metaphor, tension, or unbounded possibility.

Gilles Deleuze has brought out a concept, that the body becomes a “body without organs,” freed from the constraints of structure, liberated from the organic. In this state, each part of the body possesses the capacity to "think" — except for the brain itself. This conception describes one state of desire, as positive, boundlessly creative, and unbridled possibility.

This exhibition invites artists to engage with the delicate relationship between desire and aesthetics across diverse media. By delving into the origin and essence of the body, we aim to uncover the hidden emotions and expansive potential of desire. The exhibition seeks to challenge the societal veils of repression and taboo, inviting the audience to re-examine the desires within themselves that have been misunderstood or silenced, and to break free from the fetters of quietude.
