Traffic Box Art Wraps

The city of Buckeye invites Arizona-based artists, groups, or organizations to submit qualifications to create 2D art designs for traffic boxes along Buckeye roads.  Artists will transform traffic signal control cabinets in Buckeye from functional infrastructure to colorful, inspired works of art.  Multiple artists will be selected to create the designs for the wraps of traffic boxes. Any 2D artwork designs must be converted to a high-quality digital format for vinyl wrap printing to be considered.  Artists will be compensated $1,200 for design, materials, time, and any travel to and from Buckeye.

Themes:

Artists will create 2D designs from one of the following concepts:

1. Creating an homage to what roots Buckeye:  its heritage, agriculture, cowboy aesthetic, and the importance of water in the desert. 
2. Illuminating the beauty and ecosystems of the desert mountains.
3. Showing the importance and vitality of rivers in the desert.
4. Illustrating our quest for modernization and growth using urban-aviation themes.

When applying, the artist should show familiarity with at least one of these subject matters, although no guarantee is given that the artist will be assigned to the concept they prefer. 

These designs will be turned into a digital file which will be used to create vinyl wraps for traffic cabinets in Buckeye. 

The art should be graphically clear so that a passing car and those walking by at a leisurely pace can view it.  The final artwork will cover three sides, 77” high x 44” wide x 26” deep.  On the back of the traffic box, an 8 ½” x 11” panel will be included with information on the artist and details on the art included on the wrap.
