Storytelling: A Visual Narrative

Storytelling: A Visual Narrative invites artists to tell their most important stories through their individual style and interpretation. Your storytelling may be personal or objective, representational or abstract, and may be derived from a novel or poem. Provide us with a window into your lived or imagined experience.

Narrative art is art that tells a story, either as a moment in an ongoing story or as a sequence of events unfolding over time. Narratives in contemporary art range from highly straightforward and factual to magical and fairytale-like. This exhibition will showcase diverse perspectives and unique thinking.

• Cy Twombly, Salvador Dali, Carrie Mae Weems, John Currin, and Thomas Price are a few examples of artists who bring storytelling and narrative elements into their work.

• Submissions are welcome in all media including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, mixed media, digital arts, sculpture and video.  AI generated art is not allowed.

• Exhibition Dates: Thursday, October 12 - Saturday, November 11, 2023

• Online Submissions: Tuesday, July 25 - Sunday, September 17, 2023

• Jurying: The juror for Storytelling: A Visual Narrative is Amanda Poss, Gallery Director for Hillsborough Community College.

• Notification of Acceptance: Artists will be notified by email of their submission status no later than Friday, September 22 by 5pm.
