ING Discerning Eye 2018: Call For Entries

The ING Discerning Eye Exhibition has established an outstanding reputation among artists, collectors and enthusiasts for its unique curatorial approach.  ING has proudly supported the exhibition for 20 years, which provides, a rare opportunity for works by lesser-known artists to be hung alongside contributions from internationally recognised names. The selected works will be shown in an exhibition at The Mall Galleries, London from Thursday 15 November - Sunday 25 November 2018.

Artists are invited to submit up to six works in a variety of media: painting, print, sculptures, drawing and photography are all accepted. These works must be for sale, and should not exceed 20” (50 cm) in their largest dimension. Initial entry is by optional online registration, though artists who prefer not to register online beforehand may still enter and hand in their works at a regional submission point.

The exhibition is made up of small works, both 2D and 3D, independently chosen by prominent figures from the art world: two artists, two collectors and two critics.This year’s dynamic selection panel comprises: Sadie Clayton, Artist and Fashion Designer; Bridget McCrum, Artist; Frances Hedges, Associate Editor for Harper’s Bazaar and Town and Country; Cherie Federico, Editor, Aesthetica Magazine; Nick Ross, Radio and Television Presenter; and John Benjamin Hickey, Actor. Each selector will curate a section of the exhibition with its own distinctive identity, resulting in six small exhibitions within one overall show.

The Prizes on offer this year include the ING Purchase Prize (£5000); the Discerning Eye Founder’s Purchase Prize in honour of Michael Reynolds (£2500); the Discerning Eye Chairman’s Purchase Prize (£1000); the Meynell Fenton Prize (£1000); the Wright Purchase Prize (£500); the Humphreys Purchase Prize (£750); the Discerning Eye Sculpture and 3D Work Prize (£250); the St Cuthberts Mill Award (paper to the value of £200); and eight Regional Prizes (each worth £250).
