Admission is free to the exhibit and Opening Reception. Workshops, performances and other events related to the theme will be held as part of the show.  Passion & Vision: The Skills of Youth. Perennial wisdom teachings speak of two skills of Youth: having a vision for one's life, and having the passion to carry it out. The Skills of Youth are knowing what you think and feel (the Artist) and standing up for what you think and feel (the Warrior). The Artist receives and expresses a vision about life; the Warrior stands up with passion to manifest their vision. In the show Passion & Vision: The Skills of Youth, participating artists have the opportunity to express their personal passion and vision. This exhibit asks the artists to express their deepest self as an artist or creator. What is your passion in life? What drives you? What is your passion to express as an artist? What do you want to say to the world? What vision do you want to manifest in the world? What inspires you to create art? What causes do you fight for through your art?

In 2018, Life Force Arts Center will have two shows based in the Life Force Arts Method (LFAM), a powerful psychological and spiritual tool for understanding and building positive relationships from the inner world to the outer world.  Passion & Vision: The Skills of Youth explores perennial wisdom teachings about two skills of Youth: having a vision for one's life, and having the passion to carry it out. Love & Wisdom: The Skills of Maturity focuses on the traditional the skills of Maturity: having Love and Wisdom to create healing and community that allows the flowering of the True Self.

The Life Force Arts Method (LFAM) is a powerful psychological and spiritual tool for understanding and building positive relationships from the inner world to the outer world.  Working with the arts as healing ritual, LFAM is a non-denominational approach to greater wholeness and extraordinary personal growth. Developed over a period of thirty years by Joan Forest Mage, Life Force Arts Method is a map of life: a modern version of perennial wisdom teachings that value love, true self and creative community. To understand more about the Life Force Arts Method, please read Joan Forest Mage's article and/or attend a Soul's Pathway Intro class

Exhibits at Life Force Arts create the sacred space to hold performances, concerts, poetry readings, workshops, lectures and other events as healing rituals based on each show's theme. Joan Forest Mage, LFA's Artistic Director  says, “Our goal for these shows on the Skills of Youth & Maturity is to help people deepen their awareness and utilization of the enormous spiritual power of the arts for healing, learning, communicating and forming bonds of community."

Art Submission Guidelines for

Passion & Vision: The Skills of Youth

Artwork in this exhibit should relate to the theme of the Skills of Youth. Please use these questions as a guideline to choose the artwork you want to submit

What are you happiest doing? Where does your heart lie?

What is your passion in life? What drives you? What is your passion to express as an artist? Submit artwork you created that you feel represents who you are as an artist: what do you want to say to the world? What vision do you want to manifest in the world?

How did you arrive at the vision you want to manifest, i.e., how did you come to have that vision?

How do you physically perceive the world (do you like color, texture, form, etc.?) What physical, sensory phenomena fascinate you? For example, the smell of roses, the colors of the sky, the softness of a rabbit’s fur? What inspires you to create with a particular medium?

How have you inspired others through your art to recognize and act on their own mission in life?

What cause(s) inspire you to create art? What causes do you fight for through your art?

What are you interested in teaching others through your art? How does your art lead your audience to the knowledge, experience or vision you want them to have?

Explore the True Self: what is it like to live from soul, compared to living from the Shadow Self, the False Self, etc.

Depictions of the spirit of youth: passion and vision

How do you sense what you are experiencing in both your inner and outer worlds? Depict knowing what one thinks and feels: being alive, feeling, conscious, sentient.

How do you sense energy from the Otherworld and fabricate it into an expression in the physical world? Depict expressing what you think and feel .the craft or skill of formulating what you are experiencing into a statement in words, dance, music, visuals, etc.

skills of observation: we must observe or be conscious before we can express

what is important to you to notice? What are you conscious of? What are you passionate about expressing?

Which of these are you conscious of and want to express: physical, emotional, spiritual

In the essay about your work, please tell us about your passion.  If applicable, tell us about how you made a transition from simply expressing what you see in the world to taking action about the cause you are passionate about.

LFA welcomes artists who have presentations associated with their work, such as lectures, discussions, rituals, guided meditations, performances or workshops. We are especially looking for presentations related to the Skills of Youth, to be given between February 6 - June 26, 2018.

At LFAC, we work with energy and beings of the Light, and look for artwork that inspires and uplifts viewers. Our policy is that if artwork has a cathartic element and helps viewers face the shadow side, it must also have the alchemy to integrate what has been purged into a new, whole, positive form.

many other methods of display, depending on the type of artwork
