PICTURE BERLIN Summer Session 2023

Storytelling is a cultural exploration of narrative sharing that very often includes not only embellishment but improvisation. Artists use wide ranging materiality to explore their stories. Often the materiality harnesses their senses in a multitude of ways. PICTURE BERLIN’s Summer Session 2023 will explore storytelling from various vantage points harnessing the senses offering insight into how Berlin based artists and creatives use and access their wider environments both within themselves but also within the city.

Join us as we explore Storytelling as a core theme through the upcoming intensive 10 day Summer Session. During the program we will be walking, smelling, moving, tasting and experiencing the stories of some of the most interesting Berlin based artists working right now.

The programming will include;

+ IN SEARCH OF THE MIRACULOUS, an 8 hour journey guided by 4 different artists including, Sophie Mayer, Lucy Powell, Rik Fisher and April Gertler, through varioius parts of the city

+ An Experimental Scent Developemental Workshop based on stories and memories with Klara Ravat at The Smell Lab

+ A Foraging and story exchange workshop with Beril Kurt from Berlonics

+ A cyanotype workshop from collected debris from the city landscape with Martina della Valle

+ A Project Space Tour of 5 artist run not for profit project spaces in Berlin

+ Risograph Zine making workshop at WIRWIR

+ Storytelling and food making workshop with The Onion Project

+ Artist Studio visits

+ Portfolio reviews with the following curators; Lorena Juan (Coven Berlin), Lotte Laub (Director at Zilberman Gallery), Power Ekroth (Freelance curator), April Gertler (Director of PICTURE BERLIN and WIRWIR project space)
