DUMP Thoughts Open Call

DUMP Thoughts is a space where conversations around material waste, sustainability, working conditions, and the messy realities of making and living as artists come together.

For Edition One, we want to celebrate the open and collective spirit of DUMP. We’re aiming to document as many voices, perspectives, and experiences from across the industry as possible — whether that’s a critical reflection, experimental piece of writing, diary, complaint, or documentation of an annoying last-minute studio clear-out. We want to hear from you.

We are inviting submissions of:
texts, articles, reflections, fragments, images, or experimental formats that resonate with DUMP’s ethos and the broader conversations we’re part of.

Format:
We are primarily looking for text-based pieces (with images welcome).
We also welcome experimental formats — though please keep in mind how these might practically be presented on the website.

Selected contributions will be published on our website’s Thoughts platform (https://www.hellodump.com/thoughts) and featured on our Instagram page.

You can choose whether your name and information are shown publicly or whether you would like your contribution to be published anonymously — just let us know in your submission.

About DUMP: DUMP is an artist-led archive and collective preserving artworks at risk of being lost due to storage constraints and the rising cost of living in London. We step in where space runs out—not for lack of intent, but because not all artists can afford to keep their work. Through exhibitions, gatherings, and a growing 3D archive, DUMP explores alternative modes of preservation while questioning how value is assigned in contemporary art, complicating narratives around artistic labor, and documenting the realities of sustaining a practice in an increasingly inaccessible system.
