February Open Call: Adoration

Our February Open Call, "Adoration" has been created by our 34 Gallery Staff to explore the theme of universal love. Previous Winners can be found on the Open Calls page of our website. This initiative aims to channel the power of art to explore monthly mental health themes, particularly those related to managing loneliness, depression, Seasonal Affective Disorder and other types of mental distress during the month of February.

We recognize February can be challenging for those enduring extremes in weather and exclusion from Valentine's Day celebrations. We invite artists to explore themes of universal love, self-acceptance, positive self-esteem, and self-care. Through your work, express the emotions associated with these experiences alongside the people, places and things you cherish. Show us what you adore about your life!

Additional themes: Also consider how your work can improve the mental health of someone else at this time. Show the delicate balance of overcoming social isolation, PTSD and other symptoms that can make personal interaction difficult. Perhaps include an element about setting positive intentions for 2025.

Requirements: Submit up to 3 works by Jan. 30th. Include the following questions in your cover letter:

• Your artist name, artwork titles, and website/social media links. 
• 1 - 2 paragraphs describing the creative process regarding your work & how it fits with the Open Call Theme.
• 1 - 2 paragraphs describing what you adore about your life. This could be a person, place, emotion, memory or tangible item.

Selected artists will be notified by Feb. 10th.

Restrictions:

• Be advised that this open call also includes a global youth & adult audience. Works that are sexually graphic and/or advocate violence (self or others), discrimination, or hatred (societal/gender/religious/cultural) of any kind will be disqualified.
