Open call for artists - paid opportunity on a public Snoopy art trail

Category:
Eligibility:

Dogs Trust is leading the way in Cardiff with a new and exciting public art trail in collaboration with Snoopy and public art producers, Wild in Art. The wonderful city of Cardiff will be hosting A Dog’s Trail from March – June 2022, where we will be taking adventurers (human and dog!) on a vibrant trail of over 50, giant Snoopy sculptures through the heart of Wales’ capital city.
Our aims are to provide a post-pandemic boost to local economy, to bring local communities together by educating and inspiring all those who come to visit, and showcase some of the regions unique, diverse and dog loving creative talent - and who better for us to team up with than the most iconic dog in the world – Snoopy!
We’ve set ourselves a target of recruiting at least 50 talented artists to design and decorate our Snoopy sculptures, and so we invite you to apply to take part by submitting a Snoopy sculpture design by 1st of July 2021.
For further details on how the trail works, to download the artist information pack or to submit a design for consideration, please visit adogstrail.org.uk/artists
Benefits to participating artists:
- Receive £900 commission fee on completion of their Snoopy sculpture
- The opportunity to showcase their work to thousands as part of a mass participation public art event
- Have their design featured on the world’s most iconic illustrated dog
- Be part of a unique, covid-safe event celebrating art, community pride and physical and mental wellbeing
- Meet other artists and get the chance to work side by side in a Cardiff-based, communal art space – or transport your sculpture to your own studio
- Engage with businesses who will sponsor our Snoopy sculptures
- Support Dogs Trust in raising funds to care for over 14,000 dogs across the UK each year, and supporting the launch of our brand new Cardiff Rehoming Centre.
Throughout the world, sculpture trails see extensive mass-participation; visitors young and old come from far and wide, creating extensive long-term social, cultural and economic benefits for the host city and through sculpture sponsorship and a post-trail auction, raising vital and much-needed funds for charity.
Who are Dogs Trust?
We are the UK’s largest dog welfare charity with 20 UK Rehoming Centre’s and give love, care and undivided attention to over 14,000 dogs each year. We’re not new to Wales, as we’ve had a Rehoming Centre in Bridgend for over 50 years, but we’re especially excited to be opening our 21st centre in Cardiff which will allow us to care for an additional 1,000 dogs each year and provide several jobs and volunteering opportunities within the community.
A Dog’s Trail is an exciting new adventure for Dogs Trust – and we can’t wait to work with you. The trail’s aim is to raise significant funding towards our work so that we can continue to provide our services for those who need them the most. But we also know that it is going to be a spectacular exhibition – bringing together many communities through the creation and display of sculptures trailing through the city – a true showcase of Cardiff as a place to visit, love, live, work and play.
Thank you so much for your time, and we hope to hear from you soon.
The A Dog’s Trail team at Dogs Trust.
