Supernova Digital Animation Festival "Regeneration"
Category:
Artistic field:
Eligibility:
Regeneration celebrates a period of renewed existence, an improvement of social and economic conditions, a release from corruption, positive feedback, and the reactivation of a catalyst. It represents the conceptualization of a generation that will disrupt the hegemonic structures of the past and a break from patterns that no longer serve. A REgeneration in the spirit of change and expansive reasoning towards an alternate future that puts digital motion artists and their work at the forefront.
Denver, February 23rd — Denver Digerati opens the “Regeneration” artist submission portal for the 6th annual Supernova Digital Animation Festival, dedicated solely to artists working with digital animation and motion art, hosted in Denver, Colorado. Supernova is presented by Denver Digerati, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, with the mission to advance digital motion art through exhibition and education, accelerating the merger of art and technology. Artists from across the world can submit for consideration, their latest motion-artworks through the Supernova Film Freeway portal.
The Supernova Digital Animation Festival is a singular example of innovation within an urban context, as well as a celebration of visionary artists who utilize technology to influence new media artworks and animation. Supernova will employ a multi-faceted approach for presentation in 2021. Thousands of Colorado residents will have the advantage of attending a walking-tour activation of the large network of public LED displays, through partnership with the Denver Theater District, as well as the continuation of a month-long takeover of Night Lights Denver, on the iconic Daniels & Fisher Tower, supporting artists through direct commissions for their work. The full slate of programming will be exhibited through a robust online platform throughout the month of September.
In 2021, Denver Digerati will increase the focus on education and will offer a series of Crush Courses. There is a lot of excitement surrounding the workshops, which will be led by some of the most successful artists working in the medium today. In addition to classes for adults, teen classes will be taught, with the inclusion of reduced-rate or free education for youth. All of the workshops will bring the opportunity for works produced in the classes to be shown in the festival providing a unique and exciting exhibition experience.Artists may submit up to two animations for consideration through Supernova’s submission portal on Film Freeway. Artists submitting their work prior to April 30th enjoy a discounted submission fee. The final deadline is July 2nd. Program selections are announced in early September, along with the full program of additional arts activations, and community collaborations.
** All Supernova submissions must be suitable for public presentation. Artists working with adult themes will be considered for the annual “Overdrive - Adults Only Animation” program curated by celebrated artist Faiyaz Jafri.
Supernova is supported by the Denver Theatre District, Bonfils Stanton Foundation and numerous partnership organizations. Use of outdoor LED screens for Supernova is made possible by Branded Cities and Orange Barrel Media. A full list of 2021 sponsors will be announced this summer.
