"On our Lands: Artistic Production and Indigenous Rights"

Colonizers and settlers have inflicted significant damage on Indigenous communities by dispossessing them of their lands and restricting their rights. They face numerous forms of oppression and discrimination, including degrading cultures and unstable economics.

Associated with many other social issues such as climate change, the permanent neglect of Indigenous rights resulted in the exclusion and marginalization of those communities. From the Amazon rainforest to aboriginal communities in Australia, currently, we estimate that 50 million Indigenous live in or depend on tropical rainforests. In fact, for centuries, Indigenous communities have stood as models of resistance against western policies, using their ancestral knowledge to protect their lands and natural resources.

Thus, "On our Lands: Artistic Production and Indigenous Rights", it's a project to share a safe space with Indigenous artists, to resist, claim their rights, celebrate their unique identities, and raise awareness about their histories. In this project, we aim to use art to unveil the present concerns of Indigenous communities linked with social and cultural issues such as structural racism, climate change, the denial of Indigenous culture, or any other subject that the artist considers necessary for this debate.

This call is open to all Indigenous/aboriginal and native artists regardless of age, gender, ethnicity/race, religion, sexual orientation, location, education, or other personal characteristics.

Culturally Arts Collective is a nonprofit organization for arts education, outreach, and exhibitions based in the United States. We strive to promote a culture of artistic innovation upholding the academic integrity of the arts, uplifting contemporary expression, and challenging the status quo.

We are currently looking for National and International artists to submit works for the upcoming call: "On our Lands: Artistic Production and Indigenous Rights." Emerging and mid-career artists are invited to submit their 2-d work and be considered to join our strong artistic community by exhibiting in our 360-degree 3-D gallery at the Milostka Center for Exhibitions.
