State of Wonder NYC, Edition no. 5: “Vices”

“State of Wonder” is a rotating, free-form group show split up into ten editions which encourage the viewer to gradually consider modern life from a variety of perspectives. We are seeking young artists working in all media who are born and/or raised in NYC and from the ages of 18-28, preferably those without current gallery representation or institutional support. Our mission is to highlight the brilliant work of young artists from the city, giving them a platform to document their experience of home at a time when recent sociopolitical factors like gentrification and a remote workforce are marking yet another era of disruption and displacement for countless New Yorkers.

We are currently seeking new submissions for our next show. Edition no. 5 for State of Wonder is focused on vices: This show takes viewers to sin city as artists portray the unflinching abundance of vices that a big city has to offer. From booze, to weed, to sex, and crime, modern life makes it easy for anyone to quickly forget, fulfill their needs, get high, or get rich (if you’re willing to take the road less traveled, that is). How does one handle the temptation that big city vices bring?
