Understanding Moving Image Metadata Standards - Training Courses

Moving image metadata is a complex topic, but its increasingly governing the way archives, libraries, broadcasters and production companies operate in terms of education and access; digitisation and preservation; strategic management and widening the UKs screen heritage.

Through Learning on Screen's training series youll learn the requirements of descriptive metadata and how its used with audiovisual assets in the UK and Europe.

Content
This seriesof courses will develop participants knowledge of moving image metadata, enabling them to create, enhance andadapt their own schemas and map them to different standards.

Wellhighlight the importance of accurate and interpretable moving imagemetadata, and analyse the key issues affecting organisations that source and store audiovisual assets, illustrating with key case studies and examining with peer-led discussion.

The full programme will comprise three one day courses and two online workshops. Participants can sign-up to all three one day courses or choose one specific area to gain knowledge in.

The first course, Introduction to Metadata, will be held on 24 January 2017 and is taking bookings now.

  • European Metadata Standards(European Metadata Standards Revisited online workshop)

Aim
The aim of these courses is to provide attendees with practical knowledge around all aspects of descriptive moving image metadata so they can gain key skills to boost their professional development.

  • Film and TV archivists and senior archivists
  • Archivists and cataloguers in production companies
  • University librarians, learning resources officers and IT managers responsible for moving image content

Cost
