Open call for residencies in 2023

RaumArs A-i-R started in 1997 and it is an independent, small association with the aim of bringing the art world and the community closer to each other. Often artists work with children/youths. New kind of collaborative work and new audience is welcomed. Priority in selection is in community/participatory art. Besides independent/self-directed work residency periods from all fields.

The main selection criteria will be the stipend artists’ motivation to work in collaboration with local people, the proposal and the quality of previous art. Many of the projects are carried out with children or youth, but artists actualize the project according to their wishes and collaborate with any group they wish for. Very often shows, performances or events happen in unconventional spaces. Thru the years RaumArs has successfully been collaborating with local schools, several art & culture institutions and non-artistic associations like the Street Mission or Job Seekers.

Residencies in 2023:

Community residencies. A call for a 3-5 months in spring (January–May) or fall (September–December) Stipend: accommodation free–of–charge. 

Independent work residency 1–5 months. Besides in this period there are good opportunities at our partner's premises for woodwork, painting and textile/sewing/knitting/weaving. Needs to ber agreed upon.

Interesting collaboration with the Old Rauma Renovation Centre Tammela. This 1–2 months period is specifically targeted for architects, architect researchers or World Heritage researchers, but artists from other art disciplines are welcomed to apply too with a project connected to the World Heritage. 

Notice that for the summer period (June–mid/end August) we accept only independent work applications. Families welcomed.
