Taidetila Muijala is an emerging art space and artist residency located at the village of Reila in South-West Finland. Surrounded by forests and the sea, we can offer artists an inspiring experience in nature, cozy accommodations and extensive workspaces.

The residency is open to artists and cultural professionals of all disciplines. We strive for artistic freedom and have no thematic boundaries. Each residency is based on the artists’ needs and is guided by their process. We can offer a quiet place for research, time for experiments and room for spacious projects.

Duration

We are now accepting residency applications for 2024. The available months are: March, April, May, August, September & October. The average duration of a residency is between 1 and 3 months. However we also accept project proposals that require longer or shorter stays.

Spaces

We offer residents a private bedroom in the main wooden house + the use of the common spaces. Residents can use the work spaces the rowhouse studios, the industrial hall and the wooden barns. On our website you can find a description of the different studio spaces.

Residency fee

As an independent non-profit organisation we ask residents to pay a residency fee in order to keep the place running. The fee varies according to a sliding scale price from €450 – 750 per person per month. Depending on your financial situation and your ability to pay, you can choose to pay the minimum fee which covers a part of the hosting costs, or to invest a bit more in the organisation.
