Art Explora – Cité internationale des arts residency programme

The call for applications for the next Art Explora – Cité internationale des art5 2024 residency programme sessions is open from September 25 to November 8, 2024 (11:59 pm Paris Time).  

This year, for the first time, two artists will also be selected to participate in a cross programme in partnership with Vila 31 x Art Explora in Tirana, Albania.

Candidates are invited to propose a project that explores the social, political and environmental issues of our time ; that questions the links between art and science, new technologies.

Programmes

- a SOLO programme for artists only, for a residency of 3 or 6 months: 
- a COLLECTIVE programme for an a collective of artists, researchers and curators for a residency of 3 months
- a CROSS RESIDENCY programme with Vila 31 x Art Explora in Tirana, Albania
2 SOLO artists will be selected for this cross-residency programme, offering a 3-month residency in Tirana and a 3-month residency in Paris.

The next residents will be welcomed between March 2025 and February 2026. They all will be provided with a studio-apartment at la Cité internationale des Arts – Montmartre site, a monthly living grant (1000 euros) and a production grant (3000 euros). 

A special programme with the Ecole nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, launched in September 2024, offers our resident the opportunity to become guest professors for one semester of the academic year, in dialogue with the school’s professors. 

The selection committee is composed of international leading figures from the world of art and scientific research:

- Magalí Arriola (Mexico): Art critic et director of Museo Tamayo of Contemporary Art 
- Diana Campbell Betancourt (USA & Bangladesh): Artistic Director of the Samdani Art Foundation and Chief Curator of the Dhaka Art Summit
- Emanuele Coccia  (Italy): Philosopher and Associate Professor at EHESS
- Isabelle Gaudefroy (France): Deputy Artistic Director of the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain
- Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung (Cameroon): Director of the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) in Berlin.
- Hans Ulrich Obrist (Switzerland & the UK): Artistic Director of the Serpentine Galleries
