Open Call: Accelerator4Crafts Residencies

  • Deadline: 13 March 2026

  • Grant: Up to €1,900 covering travel and accommodation

  • Duration: Two weeks between April and June 2026

  • Locations: Iceland, Romania, Greece, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland

This residency funds two-week international placements for makers and creative entrepreneurs. It sits within Tracks4Crafts, a European initiative connecting 15 partners, including the European Crafts Alliance. The focus is firmly on skills exchange rather than pure production. It is a space to test what happens when traditional knowledge meets new technology, sustainable materials and alternative working methods.

The Structure
The format is hybrid. Selected residents attend online preparation sessions before travelling to their host site for a two-week stay. At the end of the placement, participants leave behind a record of their process. This could be a physical object, a film or a short written reflection.

Pilot Sites
Applicants can choose from eight distinct working environments:

  • Icelandic Textile Centre (Iceland): Material research using local wool, hemp and fish leather.

  • The Art of Silk Museum (Greece): Preservation and education in traditional silk production.

  • Semne Cusute (Romania): Heritage preservation centred on the Romanian shirt and collective making.

  • Artex (Italy): Ceramics and business development for craft SMEs.

  • Bokrijk (Belgium): Historical construction techniques and restoration.

  • Onl’fait (Switzerland): A FabLab applying digital tools to craft and repair.

  • Waag FutureLab (Netherlands): Research at the intersection of science, technology and bio-design.

  • MX3D (Netherlands): Robotic wire arc additive manufacturing and 3D metal printing.

How to Apply
Submissions run through the new Accelerator4Crafts platform. Alongside hosting the application portal, the site serves as a long-term diagnostic and peer-learning resource for the sector.
