Venezia Contemporanea is a nonprofit cultural association based in Venice, Italy. It was founded in 2007 with the aim to promote and support emerging artists.

V.C organizes art and cultural events all year round and parallel to the Venice Art Biennale. We cooperate with exhibition spaces and galleries in Venice, and utilize these spaces for international art and cultural events. We offer partially sponsored residency programs in cooperation with La Storta exhibition spaces and ScalaMata publishing in the Old Ghetto of Venice.

The exhibition space La Storta is located in the heart of Venice in the prestigious Old Jewish Ghetto. Situated in a 500 year old renaissance bottega La storta is one of the most authentic exhibition spaces in Venice. A bakery, a cafe and a restaurant are in the vicinity. Also the main bars and restaurants hub “Fondamenta Misericordia” is just around the corner. A supermarket is 10 min. walking distance.

We offer a unique private exhibition space with a large shop window vitrine, and livable studio – Due to La Storta’s location, the works of art are exposed to a large international audience, many of which are art buyers and collectors. a show window to 30 million visitors all year round from the Carnival to the Art and Architecture Biennale.
During the art and architecture biennale the area attracts many journalists, museum directors and curators.

The space is divided into three parts. The main part is at the front with a very large window and a small courtyard. The wall exhibition space inside is approx. 42 sqm in the front. A 15 sqm living unit is offered at the back of the space. It includes a double bed, a bathroom with shower + wc and a small fully equipped kitchen with a mini fridge. We also provide cleaning service at the end of the stay. The living space is suitable for max. 2 people. We can assist with finding accommodation for small groups up to 10 people in the area of the Ghetto provided we are notified well in advance.

Expectations towards the artist: We expect artists to leave the La Storta premises as clean and tidy as they found it. Work material should be disposed.
