Artudio invites applications for the Artudio International Artist Residency (AIAR), a year-round program designed to offer a creative space for artists from various disciplines. The residency offers flexible durations ranging from 1 to 6 months. Situated in Kathmandu, Nepal, Artudio provides a unique environment for artists to engage in contemporary art practices, contribute to the local art community, and explore transformative initiatives through exhibitions, residencies, workshops, and visual arts education.

Where We Are Located

Artudio is situated on Chhauni Hospital Road, Kathmandu, Nepal, near the UNESCO World Heritage site, Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple). Our location offers a blend of urban accessibility and scenic tranquility. In addition to Swayambhunath (Tourist has given the name Monkey Temple but which is not correct), nearby landmarks include:

• Military Museum
• National Museum of Nepal
• Natural History Museum of Nepal
• Popular hiking destinations like Ichangu Narayan and Jamacho
• Kathmandu Durbar Square, Dharahara, Maru, Thamel, Asan

We are also just 5 minutes from the ring road, providing easy access to all major locations in Kathmandu.

Residency Fees and Expected Outcomes

1 Month – USD 750

• Final Presentation or Open Studio
• Workshop for children and youths

2 Months – USD 1400

• Final Presentation and Open Studio
• One-day workshop for children and youths

3 Months – USD 2200

• Final Presentation, Open Studio/Exhibition (solo/group)
• 3-day intensive workshop for children and youths

Included in the residency fee:

• Spacious bedroom with a balcony overlooking the Swayambhunath Stupa
• Shared kitchen with basic amenities
• Common toilet with shower (hot water)
• Shared workspace with individual desks
• High-speed wireless internet (bring your own laptop)
• Electricity, water, and laundry facilities
• Airport pick-up and drop-off
• Weekly housekeeping services
• Printing and photocopy services (A4 size)
• Networking opportunities with the Nepali art scene
• Exhibition and presentation support (in Artudio space)
• 2 Times a Month gallery, studio, museum, and site visits

For additional workspace, shared access to our studio is available. The Coffee Shop is located in the building for your convenience.
