Description:

The trace is an ambivalent form of inscription: it marks the presence of what once was and, at the same time, signals its absence. It is testimony and emptiness, memory and projection. From this tension, the territory presents itself as a space where human presence, natural processes and collective imaginaries are in constant dialogue. These residencies are framed within the concepts of body, territory and spatiality, understood as central axes of research and creation. In this edition, we would like to place special emphasis on the trace as a notion that cuts across these frameworks, inviting participants to explore it from multiple dimensions. However, this proposal will not be exclusive, but will remain open to projects that engage in a broad dialogue with the programme’s curatorial lines.
AADK Spain invites artists and researchers to participate in this edition of artistic residencies, aimed at exploring the notion of the trace as a place of transition between presence and absence, and as a tool for reconfiguring the relationship between space and memory. Participants are invited to think of the footprint as a material record and as an ephemeral gesture capable of expanding the ways of inhabiting and signifying the territory.
The residencies will take place at Centro Negra, in Blanca (Murcia, Spain).Projects may have a minimum duration of one month and be developed throughout 2026. During the process, each artist or collective will receive individual curatorial support, as well as documentation at the public event.

Studio / Workspace

Our work studios at AADK offer a variety of inspiring spaces suited to different artistic practices. Residents are also encouraged to extend their research beyond the studio walls-exploring the breathtaking landscapes and unique natural surroundings of Blanca as part of their creative process.

Fees and support

Full residency programme: €1000 per month (including accommodation in a shared house).A private apartment is available for an additional €300, for a total of €1300 per month.
Artists who are selected will receive a letter of invitation to facilitate their application for grants to support their residency.

Expectations towards the artist

Artists in residence are warmly invited to take part in our activities and enrich their stay through active participation. Each month, we host an Open Studio, where residents are encouraged to share their work whether finished pieces or works in progress. We welcome artists to open up their practice to others.
