DesertArtCollection & SculptureGarden To Celebrate 20th Anniversary This 2015/2016 Season With Unique Series Of “Pop-Up” Art Shows

Palm DesertCalifornia.  In conjunction with their 20th Anniversary in 2016, the DesertArtCollection & SculptureGarden will host an unprecedented series of “Pop-Up” Art Shows during the 2016 season, allowing for a unique mixture of established and emerging talent to showcase their work at the gallery.  While traditional shows usually hang at the gallery for a month, this season will see a wide variety of artists whose work will be showcased over the course of a weekend.

This ambitious schedule of Pop-Up shows continue through April.  Limited to Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays, all work featured in the show will be posted on the website for clients unable to get to the gallery.  Either the artist will be new to Desert Art Collection or the artwork from the existing artist will be a new body of work.  For example, Bernard Hoyes was introduced to Desert Art Collection clients last year.  But he has been an artist for 40 years and has an international reputation.  The work being shown for his “Pop-Up” is a return to the body of work that made him famous – "The Rag Series", ink on paper, but with an abstract twist.

Brandon Blane McMillan, Karen Scharer, Annie Rodrigue, Atticus Adams and Joey Brock are emerging artists, new to DAC, who have done or will be doing Pop-Ups, alongside other DAC established artists including Aida Marini Schneider, Allison Stewart, Michael Battaglia and Sheila Benow.

In addition to the artist shows, a silent auction fundraiser is planned to benefit Hanson House, a temporary shelter for family of critically ill or injured at Desert Regional Medical Center, opening on the El Paseo Artwalk Friday, February 5th.  The gallery artists have painted or sculpted small pieces having one dimension of 12 inches…most being 12x12”.

Said Mike Fedderly, Desert Art Collection Gallery Owner, “I don’t believe that anything like this has ever been done in the desert community before.  I see it as a unique opportunity to showcase a broad range of artists and expose Desert Art Collection clients new and old to a stunning array of visual art.”

In 1996 Fedderly Associates, a development, construction and design firm, made a designated room for showing their clients fine art and sculpture for their homes and offices.  Gradually the show area grew to two rooms, then three (the Principal moved his office to accommodate the expansion) and the lobby.  In the fall of 2008, the design firm moved its offices, showrooms and storerooms to Nopales Rd in the Desert Business Park leaving the art gallery with all the space inside and all the outside garden/courtyard.

A beautiful compliment to the art gallery, Lotus Garden Florist & Nursery, moved into the southern end of the compound in 2010.  And the ever evolving gallery then made a separate business out of the (mostly African) tribal antiques and artifacts that the owner, Mike Fedderly, has collected over the past 50 years.  TribalArtifacts.com is housed within the Desert Art Collection.

The lines between all the businesses at the compound are blurred by intention.  The gallery handles mostly mature, accomplished masterful artists and sculptors, but also some emerging talents, from all over North America.

The Desert Art Collection & Sculpture Garden is located at 45350 San Luis Rey Ave (at El Paseo), Palm Desert, CA, 92260.  In-season hours (Oct-Apr) are Mon-Sat 10-5, Sun 11-4.  For additional information please contact the gallery at (760) 674-9955 or visit the website at www.desertartcollection.com
