Poetry course with Ian Duhig/Hannah Lowe: Nothing Useless
Category:

Residential Poetry Course 11 - 16 June, tutor Ian Duhig, guest reader Hannah Lowe
‘Nothing Useless’ – As International Writer Fellow at Trinity College Dublin and elsewhere, Ian Duhig has helped a wide range of people make poetry from those with literacy problems to postgraduates. He is known for his supportive, positive and enjoyable tutoring approach, using a broad repertoire of materials and exercises. Whatever your age, background or life, as Johnson puts in Rasselas, “To a poet nothing can be useless”: Duhig can help you identify and get the best out of your experience so you can write to the best of your ability.
The Garsdale Retreat is a creative writing centre in the remote and beautiful setting of The Yorkshire Dales.
It provides inspirational courses tutored by professional writers, enabling participants to develop their individual creativity in a place of peace and tranquillity, away from the distractions and stresses of everyday life.
We welcome all levels of ability, offering a high level of individual tuition in small classes (maximum: eight). All meals are provided (no cooking or washing up duties), enabling course participants to focus entirely on their writing, whilst enjoying excellent locally sourced food in simple and comfortable surroundings. Both residential and non-residential places available.
Accommodated in an attractive Edwardian house, with workshops held in its converted coach-house, students can enjoy the stunning landscape of The Yorkshire Dales and take walks directly from the house into the National Park.
The Garsdale Retreat provides an ideal place to reconnect with self and creativity in a busy and pressurised world. We welcome all to share in our passion for writing and to enjoy a rich and revitalising experience.
