Open for Applications: AIR Open 2023

Applications are now open for the AIR Open 2023; our 6th annual summer show. Open to any artists working in any medium, the only restriction is we want to see your best work! Up to £1000 in cash prizes to be won plus associate memberships, solo exhibitions, gallery representation and art materials. PLUS your chance to get your work to the Manchester Contemporary Art Fair 2023. £5 per piece to enter, max 3 works.

Open Call: Fibres

Seeking artistic responses to the theme of Fibres.

​Textile making traditions spans global cultures as one of the earliest human technologies. It has been a staple in industry, fashion, craft and decorative arts throughout the ages but it particularly made a resurgence in the 1960s back into the contemporary art world. Since then Fibre and textile arts have been developing new forms and language -becoming more conceptual and cross-disciplinary, even into this digital age.

Call for Exhibition Proposals

A brand new initiative launched as part of AIR Gallery. Micro is a scaled down gallery space. The space may be small but the ideas will be big (if it fits, its sits!).

The space consists of three main walls with a small side wall; plus outdoor wall space for framed pieces. This space can be used to showcase small works, sculpture or turned into a cinema room for video works.

It's free to apply. Successful applicants will pay a small rental on the space £5 a day, £20 a week. This space will also be available for free to our associates to use.

This initiative is to coincide with AIR Gallery's scheduled exhibition programme. The space is open Wed-Fri 11-6pm and Sat 12-5pm.

RE:CALL

AIR Gallery is pleased to present 'Re-Call'; a group exhibition featuring the four winners of last year’s AIR Open 2021. Bringing together a collection of new works by Candice Dehnavi, Gustavo Ferro, Jayne Anita Smith and Naomi Kendrick; the exhibition aims to showcase how each artist has developed over the past year since winning their awards.

AIR Open 2022

Calling all Artists: AIR Open 2022

Applications for the annual AIR Open 2022 are now being taken! This is open to any artist, any theme, any location and will be for a physical group show taking place July-Aug 2022.

​It costs £5 per piece to enter and you can enter up to three works for consideration. Around 20-30 works will  be chosen for the exhibition. You will receive a paypal request for the entry fee within 48 hours of submitting. If you are a low income artists based in the UK; there is the opportunity to get your entry fee refunded if you volunteer during the exhibition.

​Deadline 19th June

​​Selection by the 26th June. Artwork must be available to deliver between the 29th Jun-10th July.

Open Call: Humour

AIR Gallery are seeking artworks relating to the theme of humour and joy. With everything that has happened and is currently happening  in the world; we want to shift the focus to something positive.

​

We are seeking works that can be (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Joyfulness and Happiness
  • Laughter 
  • Comedy and Humorous outlooks
  • Physical and Slapstick humour
  • Improvisation
  • Surreal humour
  • Topical humour
  • Dark Humour, Irony, Wit and Satire
  •  

​Artists can enter up to three works for consideration. There is no limit on medium and no cost to take part.

​All works must be complete and ready to show for May. Deadline is 17th April midnight GMT.
