Wouldn’t it be great to get your work in front of a leading curator? We are thrilled to announce the call for entries for Create! Magazine’s issue #36.

 

As an artist, you know how important it is to get your work in front of new audiences, curators and leaders in the art world, which is why we are so passionate about creating these opportunities to help you to do just that. 

 

This issue will feature the work of selected artists working in a wide array of media, disciplines and creative backgrounds.

What is Create! Magazine?

 

Originally founded in 2013 as Fresh Paint Magazine, the publication rebranded to Create! Magazine in 2016 in order to showcase the incredible talent of emerging artists in the contemporary arts working across a variety of media. Since then, we’ve highlighted thousands of artists from across the globe, sharing not only what they create, but also the meaning, inspiration, and stories behind what they do. 

 

The artists selected by Danielle Krysa, known as The Jealous Curator, will have their work featured in our print and digital issue and will be promoted to our global community of 200,000+ artists, curators, collectors, art world professionals, and art lovers.

 

Our magazine has been featured by leading media outlets including Colossal, Apartment Therapy, and The Jealous Curator, among others. Over the years, we have partnered with global art fairs including Art Miami, Moniker, Affordable Art Fair, and Superfine, and collaborated with brands such as Minted.

 

Print issues are available in our online shop and at select independent bookstores worldwide.  

 

GUEST CURATOR:

 

Danielle Krysa has a BFA in Visual Arts, and a post-grad in graphic design. She is the writer/curator behind the contemporary art site, The Jealous Curator (est.2009), and has curated art shows from Washington DC to Los Angeles, San Francisco to Toronto. Danielle creates her own artwork as well – mixed media collages which combine found images, paint, and as much humor as she can pack into each title. When she’s not in the studio, Danielle is writing books : “Creative Block”, “Collage”, and “Your Inner Critic Is A Big Jerk” were the first three, and her fourth book, “A Big Important Art Book – Now with Women”, was released in October of 2018. Danielle has also had the great pleasure of speaking at TEDx, PIXAR, Creative Mornings, CreativeLive, and was interviewed for several video segments on oprah.com.

 

The Jealous Curator has been featured by Oprah Magazine/oprah.com, Brain Pickings, Fast Company, Apartment Therapy, Sunset Magazine, Frankie Magazine, InsideOut Magazine, Flow Magazine, The Vancouver Sun, Glamour Paris, and more.

Our calls for entry are open to all artists from every country unless we have a special edition that highlights a specific topic or interest. All styles and media are welcome. There are no educational requirements to apply to the open calls.

Requirements

 

  • Artists may submit up to 10 individual (different artworks) pieces of work for consideration

  • Artists must ensure high quality of images, and we recommend 300 dpi jpeg.

  • Artwork images and bio must be uploaded directly to the form

  • Bio and statement must be under 300 words each.

  • Artwork does not have to be for sale.

 

IMPORTANT DATES:

Entry Deadline: November 30, 2022, 11:59 pm EST.

 

All artists will be notified of the final decision by January 30, 2023. If your work is selected, you will receive further information at that time.

 

All selected work will be included in the print issue due by the end of February 2022. Artists will have an opportunity to review their spread and make edits if necessary before print. All selected artists will receive a complimentary digital edition.

  • Submission fee is $35 for 3 images (non-refundable)

  • The limit of submitted artworks is 10

  • Bio word limit 300

AGREEMENT

Create! Magazine reserves the right to use images of the artwork on its website and social media. By submitting artwork via this call, the artist agrees to the terms outlined above. The artist submitting their work understands that inclusion is not guaranteed as this is a juried opportunity. Artist retains full copyright of the work. Images will not be used by Create! Magazine aside from the print issue, interviews, social media posts.

We are thrilled to announce the call for entries for Create! Magazine’s Sixth Anniversary Print Edition 2022, issue #35.

We invite you to join our celebration and be part of this landmark issue marking six years dedicated to our mission of supporting emerging artists. The artists selected to have their work featured will earn a coveted placement in our print and digital issue and will be promoted to our global community of 200,000+ artists, curators, collectors, art world professionals, and art lovers.

Call For Women and Non-Binary Artists: International Print Issue #34 and Prize Curated by Pegah Kargar, founder of Repaint History

Guest Curator: Pegah Kargar, founder of Repaint History

Pegah Kargar is the founder of Repaint History, a leading organization founded in 2018 to tackle the existing gender gap in the art world and advance the career of contemporary women and non-binary artists by focusing on providing access to resources & services, funding and community as well as working directly with museums and galleries globally to increase the representation of women artists in the art market. She has been highlighted and profiled as a key advocate for female artists and has championed their work to be acquired and/or represented by museums and galleries across the world. In partnership with 8 other leading organizations she has launched the Fair Art 2030 initiative, a pledge project for museums and galleries to address gender equality and race representation by 2030 in keeping with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG’). In partnership with ArtGirlRising she is currently working on launching Weekly Rise, a platform to connect women & non-binary artists with opportunities in the art world.

‍ELIGIBILITY: Women, non-binary, and femme artists from any country are welcome to apply with works in any medium: painting, sculpture, digital, printmaking, fiber, photography, mixed media, installation, and more. A university degree is not required to participate in our open call. 

‍SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS: 3+ jpeg images of individual artworks, a text document with a bio and artist statement, website or social media link, and your email address. Please see our form on Submittable below for full details.

‍SELECTED ARTISTS: If your work is selected by our guest juror, you will receive a custom-designed two-page spread in both the print and digital versions of the magazine that will include your artist biography, website, and two images. Published artists will be sent a complimentary digital issue and will be listed as a participating artist in your issue on both our website and social media. We also promote artists individually via the blog and social media posts. All featured artists will automatically be considered for any upcoming curatorial projects, not limited to art fairs, exhibitions, and gallery projects organized by our team.

Guest Curator: Dina Brodsky

‍Dina Brodsky is a contemporary realist miniaturist, painter, educator, and curator. She lives and works in New York City. She has taught privately and in several institutions, including the Castle Hill Center for the Arts, the Long Island Academy of Fine Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Dina is also the host of Art Grind Podcast and curator for Thinking with Paper and has over 600,000 followers on Instagram, as of May 2022.
