Organisation:

Eligibility:

Guest Room aims to spark collaboration. Sarah Johanna Theurer, curator at Haus der Kunst in Munich, has decided to collaborate with the art director & design strategist Clemens Jahn.

The two have developed the following framework for your submissions: "Living Spaces”.

The escalating climate crisis, rapid inflation, mass migration, and unrestrained technologism keep transforming our natural, social, and economic environments. Solastalgia, the grief about the destruction or massive transformation of one’s living space, has become a common experience for many human beings. What are the living spaces we inhabit today, and which new ones can we – or do we have to – create?

Issue 15 – “The collectivity issue”

Share

Organisation:

Eligibility:

For issue 15, titled “The collectivity issue”, we are thrilled to announce a special approach to our guest-editing. Instead of working with one artist, we have chosen to invite a total of 50 artists to each guest-edit a single spread within the publication. The invited artists will juxtapose one of their images with an image they select from the open call.

We invite you to submit work that corresponds with your own perception of collectivity.

Der Greif is a registered non-profit. We believe this organizational structure best reflects our artistic and cultural mission. As always, your artistic contribution makes our work on Der Greif possible.

This year we are asking you to consider making a financial contribution as well. That's why we're suggesting a voluntary donation of 12 € as a submission fee. 100% of the funds we collect from your donations will go towards helping us produce issue 15.

We believe in inclusivity. We don't want this suggested donation to stand in the way of your submission. If you are unable to contribute financially, please send an email to extravoucher@dergreif.org to receive a voucher code which will allow you to enter for free.

Open Call for Guest Room: Kathrin Schönegg

Share

Organisation:

Eligibility:

Guest Room aims to spark collaboration. Kathrin Schönegg has decided to collaborate with Kateryna Radchenko, Odesa Photo Days Festival, Ukraine, in the form of visual pairings.

Kathrin Schönegg and Kateryna Radchenko welcome international submissions, which will be matched with current imagery from Ukrainian artists, both exploring the theme "wild loneliness”.

The theme is inspired by a 2022 album title of the band Superchamp. In the post-Trump-era, the ongoing Covid-19-pandemic, and especially the turning point in history that the attack on Ukraine symbolizes, loneliness is no longer a subjective experience alone, but a collective emotion of our times. Schönegg and Rodchenko look forward to discovering works employing photography as a means to picture loneliness but also to fight it in order to deal with current politics, global histories and regarding present realities.
