The Ties That Bind

"Can photography help us feel closer to one another?

We’re living in a time of deep division – where differences in values, politics, and worldviews are pulling people apart. In moments like this, how can we create space for genuine connection, especially between opposing perspectives?

Visions for Europe: A Special Project by Der Greif

“Visions for Europe: A Special Project by Der Greif”

Europe – and the world – stands at a crossroads, and we’re looking for powerful photographic perspectives that explore democracy, innovation, and the resilience needed for our collective future.

In collaboration with a private partner hosting a special gathering at Das Tegernsee hotel, Der Greif invites photographers worldwide to submit images that illuminate these themes. This event brings together a select group of Europe’s leading founders, leaders, and change-makers.

Der Greif x Various Others - Bilder Auf Reisen / Pictures on a Journey

Bilder auf Reisen / Pictures on a Journey is a curated, interactive postcard project by Der Greif that invites emerging artists and image-makers from around the globe to respond to the themes "Strange Homeland" and "Encounters." During Various Others (May 8–11) – Munich art festival – we'll transform part of the Hotel Bayerischer Hof into an interactive installation, facilitated by a "Post-Officer" who will guide visitors to choose from the selected postcard motifs, write personal messages on-site, and send them across the globe – reviving the spirit of Mail Art. Each card will be paired with poetic texts, creating unexpected links between image and word.

Dynamic Perspective

“The times we live in today (the current zeitgeist) require an open and constantly evolving perspective in order to create positive change. Only then can we gain valuable insights into different points of view and truly connect. Isn't the strength of a civilization found purely in respect and empathy for people, nature and non-living entities?

Guest Room: KJ Abudu

Der Greif has invited curator, writer, and critic KJ Abudu to curate a Guest Room. Based between New York, London, and Lagos, his writings and exhibitions focus on critical art and discursive practices responding to the world-historical conditions produced by colonial capitalist modernity. For this edition of Guest Room, he has chosen the theme “Sounds of Resistance" for your submissions.
