The theme of our online exhibition - and for which it sees the paper release of its catalog - refers to those undefinite places and contexts, fantastic places in which to get lost, places of escape from reality where freedom is experienced by rediscovering that sense of union and harmonious cohesion with the environment. Places that reveal the personal perception of the world and the authentic emotional experience, where the "self" is transported by osmosis into a timeless and "placeless" space.

As theories of visual culture demonstrate, since ancient times the iconographic image has been a very important form of transmission and diffusion of human knowledge.

Starting from the late Victorian period, photography became a fundamental medium for scientific research, fully responding to the need to catalog and bear witness to inquiries into the natural world. Being photography considered a means that offers an objective vision of reality, when combined with data and texts, it is welcomed by the academic environment as an ideal means for the documentary transmission of scientific results.

"Metamorphosis” is the theme of the exhibit scheduled for April 2024.

Metamorphosis as process that manifests itself through mutation and change, as a process determined by the passage from one state to another, and finally as one that in the biological cycle coincides with the breath of nature. Metamorphosis is here a phenomenon that instills the perception of becoming; it is where the transience of the state of things contains the deepest meaning of existence.

The collection of photographs displayed will exhibit ambiences and experiences lived during nighttime. We are immersed into the night where the deepest self manifests itself in a relationship with darkness and silence. Empty contexts where time leaves space for contemplation of places where the diurnal rhythm is marked by the productive and consumerist frenzy of human beings. The night is also told by those who offer evidence of social contexts - places, people and events - linked to nightlife and the fascination it evokes.
